Singer Sewing Machine
« on: November 02, 2020, 03:22:12 PM »
By going through more threads than I like to think (choosing a sewing machine is akin to pinning threads: rolleyes:), I'm looking at getting a singer. Not for serious sail repairs, but for one or two layers of canvas and the like. Does anyone have any views on this or alternatives?

I am not sure I think my mom had one of those but I am not sure how to work with them.

Oh yes Singers are really good machines. My family has one but it is very old. It is the same sewing machine my grandmother used when when she was young and the same machine my mother learned how to sew on. I learned my basics like that when I was around 6 or 7. The first hing I learned though, the very first thing, was threading a singer sewing machine. Both my mom and my Nana told me that before I try to actually make something this is the most important thing. I spent hours learning how to do it. I think I can still remember the smell of my mothers clothes while were doing it. I never really finished learning how to sew but I have been thinking of picking it back up. I will probably look for a new sewing machine though :P
