I think gold was the first digital assets thats was in place before Bitcoin come in the the digital market, which we consider as cryptocurrency, for me due to high level of innovation in cryptocurrency I can say that Bitcoin will take over gold as an investment option.

they are two investments with different characteristics, with gold you earn less but it is a safe, stable investment, bitcoin is very changeable, a risky investment but you can make big gains even in short periods...

Both are the options for investment even if they have different sectors. Bitcoin is for digital investment, while Gold is for investment in real-life. I don't think they will replace one another because they have a different world. And I doubt if the popularity of Gold will be gone with the existence of Bitcoin.
