GitHub is done depositing its open source codes in the Arctic.


The GitHub Arctic Code Vault is a data repository preserved in the Arctic World Archive (AWA), a very-long-term archival facility 250 meters deep in the permafrost of an Arctic mountain. The archive is located in a decommissioned coal mine in the Svalbard archipelago, closer to the North Pole than the Arctic Circle.

Last year, GitHub revealed its plan to store all of its open source software in an Arctic vault as part of its Archive Program. In a blog post celebrating the undertaking’s success, GitHub’s Director for Strategic Programs Julia Metcalf has revealed that the service’s code collection was deposited into the vault on July 8th, 2020 after delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic. On July 18, 2020 it became known that the expedition had been successfully completed.

GitHub’s archive partner Piql wrote 21TB of repository data onto 186 reels of piqlFilm — a digital photosensitive archival film that can be read by a computer, or a human with a magnifying glass. You know, in case humanity suffers from global power outage. The service originally hoped to be done with the task by February, but it had to wait until it was possible for the Piql team to travel to the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, which only recently re-opened its borders.

The collection now sits inside a chamber within a decommissioned coal mine, under hundreds of meters of permafrost. To recognize everyone who contributed to the software stored in the vault, GitHub is also rolling out a special badge that’s displayed in the highlights section of a developer’s profile. Hovering over the badge shows the projects they contributed to, which ultimately became part of the Arctic Vault.



Every reel of the archive includes a copy of the “Guide to the GitHub Code Vault” in five languages, written with input from GitHub’s community and available at the Archive Program’s own GitHub repository. In addition, the archive will include a separate human-readable reel which documents the technical history and cultural context of the archive’s contents.

Signing up
First thing’s first, you’ll need to create an account. Anyone is able to sign up since XBTS does not require customer information.

Visit the XBTS website https://xbts.io/. Click [Log In] or [Create Account] buttons from the menu to log into your XBTS account. Then, click on [Exchange] to view all the current market details of each trading pair.





- In XBTS, you can create readable and memorable own unique account name for your XBTS account.
- When you create a XBTS account, the account name registers to the blockchain.
- The account comes with the Private/public keys.

- ONLY YOU HAVE THE ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT!
- In order to ensure Anonymity of the user's IP, his IP-address is hashed.

- When you create an account at XBTS, the account name will be available also at BitShares wallet.



After you fill in the required fields, click “Create account”.

Once the key is clicked, your XBTS account is ready to be used.


Deposit Funds
Now that your account is activated, but before exploring the rest of the XBTS exchange, you’ll need to add funds to your account if you wish to buy or sell any cryptocurrencies.

You can make a deposit by sending funds from other exchange or a separate cryptocurrency wallet into your XBTS account.

In the top-right hand corner of the screen click on “Wallet” and from the list select the cryptocurrency you are wishing to Deposit.

The price displayed in the limit price area is the last transaction price. You can choose a market order if you want to make a transaction quickly.
If the market price of Crypto is 0.3 but you want to buy at 0.2, then you can place a limit order.

Withdraw
The process for withdrawing your funds is similar to when you first deposited them.

In the top-right hand corner of the screen click on “Wallet” and from the list select the cryptocurrency you are wishing to withdraw.

Enter wallet address (the one you wish to offramp to) and enter the desired amount then hit “Withdraw”.
