Coinmarketcap - Manipulation?
« on: December 24, 2018, 04:35:56 PM »

sometimes I see coins on coinmarketcap which shows extreme gains,
but when I look at the exchanges, the price is much lower.

For example 6 $ on Coinmarketcap and 2 $ on an exchange.

How is that possible? Is this a bug or manipulation?

maybe it's not manipulation, but it hasn't been read by CMC server.
it's impossible every time it will always be read, so sometimes it looks like manipulation

Coinmarketcap might not be updated in realm time. Also check for trade volumes. If volume is low, price will fluctuate more.

It happens a lot of times but it is not a manipulation
If you look up on cmc the trade volume of that token for that day , it will be a very low volume

Just a high price purchase of a single order
