Anybody know how many posts or what your activity needs to be to to go from Newbie to Jr Member and so on?

Yes. It is shown in the table below. The number of current members sorted by level is also shown:



That's the default smf forum software setting. It can be changed, but I think the initial setting it is fine.

What about Karma?
How do you get/give it?

Karma is a feature that shows the popularity of a certain member. When members are allowed, they can Applaud or Smite a member to raise or lower that member's karma. The link to do that is located in the left part of the page, under the member avatar (left picture).


         


After I clicked applaud to thank you for inquiring about this feature, you can see the positive karma increased by 1 (right picture).

What is the real purpose behind the karma? Does it meant a user with higher karma is much more trusted on this forum to execute deals with other members?
