Yes it is but the returns depend on how willing you are to ride the hard times and when you can tell to get off, just like investing just like gambling

It is generally legal in most countries if that's what you mean. It's also a potential way to make a lot of money on the side (or full-time) if that's what you were referring to by 'legit'. It just requires patience and a lot of reading as most ups and downs are media driven or caused by the big dogs playing the market.

You'll need to do a lot of research though to find the ones that will stand on top (i.e. fixing a real issue, brilliant team, realistic roadmap etc.) seeing as most will probably die out. Be careful as there are a lot of scams in the crypto world.

Cryptocurrencies are considered as faster and cheaper payment method with very low fees for transaction and make instant settlements possible and help get rid of possible chargebacks. It is somehow safe because of pseudonymity (alias) to avoid identity theft as well, especially nowadays in our modern technology.

Oh right totally didn't consider the possibility that this is what he meant. Yeah but in the end even if crypto is banned in your country you can buy and sell it on a exchange not in your country, that's mostly the point of decentralization.

Do you mean legit as in legal or legit as in good?

When it comes to legality, just like the other comments above, yes it still depends on your location. An article I read somewhere listed Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan and Nepal as the five countries that have already made Bitcoin illegal. They didn't say exactly though if all kinds of cryptocurrencies are illegal and banned in those countries, but Bitcoin for sure is.

If you mean legit as in good, I guess it really depends on you. If you have enough extra cash to spare for investment, then it would be good. Thing is, unless you find something that will for sure be as popular as Bitcoin in the future, then it doesn't matter if you place very little investment. The chances to earn as much as those who invested on Bitcoin years ago compared to what they earned in 2016 and 2017 until today, would be very low, I believe. It's like hitting a jackpot if you find anything like that.

I would have to say that investing on crypto is just like gambling - you win big or you go home and lose all/most of your money. You really have to extensively research and study about it to make most out of your investment, if earning is your purpose in the first place. :)

Theres a lot of legit and a lot of scams. I think this is quite common on all other industries.

2016-2018 is actually the rise of cryptocurrencies. A lot of ICOs happened and happening everyday. But if you think about it, there are also a lot of good projects that didn't push through. I read couple of good whitepapers that has a lot of potential. I also read crappy whitepapers or scams that had successful ICOs. So yeah, if we really want to showcase to the world that Blockchain is really the future, we have to remove all the scams and fake.

Regulation and legitimacy is a major concern in Crypto space for obvious reasons, but I think the change is coming especially from Chinese markets. They have in recent times down major crackdown on a lot of ICOs and Cryptocurrencies while the news regarding Alipay with their action of closing 3000 accounts, it all is a major step towards right direction. So, probably many people might say no, but in coming time there will be a clear answer that yes it’s legal to invest in Cryptos.
