Trusting the maths of Bitcoin makes sense. I think they trust because it.
of Most of the computer code behind it is publicly available, meaning it has been checked over by lots of programmers. The algorithm that limits the supply of coins also verifies transactions between anonymous users. So there is a record of when the coins are bought and sold.

I trust the math, it doesn't cheat. People sometimes do.

Much of the confidence in Bitcoin derives from the fact that he does not require any confidence. Bitcoin's source code is fully open, and the network is completely decentralized. This means that anyone has access to the full source code at any time. Therefore, any developer in the world can test how Bitcoin works. Anyone can track in real time all bitco-transactions and newly released bitcoins. All payments are made without relying on a third-party organization and the entire system is protected by reliable and well-proven cryptographic algorithms similar to those used in online banking. No organization or individual can control Bitcoin, and the network remains secure, even if not all of its users can be trusted.

It's not a person, so a definition of trust here is slightly altered. The source code is open. You can see how it works for yourself, and then you don't need any guarantee. Everyone decides for themselves whether to use it or not, but you only may not trust it if you don't understand how it works.

People trust Bitcoin because, one, the network prevents you from spending what you don't have, and two, transactions are essentially irreversible once they've been processed. I can go into further detail if you'd like, but knowing how much detail you'd like is the problem.
