Careers/Jobs: Learner Series
« on: August 29, 2022, 01:17:28 PM »

How Government Jobs Programs Could Boost Employment | Urban Institute

CAREERS/JOBS

Welcome Learners,

This Learner Series is a way for me to teach what I know with hopes of it benefitting you in some way. I work as a teacher, so my biggest passion is educational success in different forms. So learn, have fun, and discuss!

My background: I have taken a job prep course and I have held 4 seasonal jobs and 1 contracted job. I have also worked independently as a nanny. Update: I have 1 part time job currently.

I want to start this session the same way I would open up a class for my students. Introduce yourself, say why you joined this Learner Series and what you hope to get out of it.

Topics I will be covering:

-resumes

-cover letters

-interview etiquette

It is a very interesting topic, especially for those looking for their first job who are worried about it. By the way, you could organize similar courses for your students. I did something similar in my school. I even found the certificate template google docs and printed out the certificates of completion of the "career guidance course," It was really interesting and exciting. I recommend that you try to organize something like this in an offline format, and I'm sure many people will like it. Good luck to you!
