if we don't start actively investing in the treatment of dementia and alzheimer's, we will turn into a bunch of stupid old people

Meh, it's not a matter of how many dementia test are getting positive. It is just human nature that we got that kind of problem. Dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's is rather the same as dealing with Cancer. No matter how much development it gets. With our modern medicine, it is kinda impossible to make a cure for every disease. However, some people live a prosperous life before Alzheimer's kicks in. And it might be sad that you'll have no memories in the end, but as the old saying says: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Everything happens for a reason, and we can't have control of that reasoning.

Heard something about a study the other day that suggests eating junk food highly contributes to the development of these diseases. They also said they don't believe it takes a lot, like one cookie a day could contribute to your risk factor. Hopefully they'll continue to learn more so that it can be prevented one day. My grandfather had dimension before he died, it was awful.
