Nov 2nd Terracoin Update - Variety

I have a variety of topics to talk about today!

First we have passed the 800 mark for masternodes!  Not all of them are online right now, but once a hosting issue has been corrected with one of the VPS providers most should become enabled.

This is great news because that means more people can vote and interact with the decentralized governance.

Decentralized governance is the ability for every masternode owner to put in a proposal asking for Terracoin to fund their ideas to help Terracoin.  If you own a masternode and would like to put in a proposal for TRC please follow the directions here: https://github.com/terracoin/proposals

Once a proposal is put in then all of the masternode holders can vote on the proposal.  Here is a link to the current proposals: proposals.terracoin.io

If you put in a proposal make sure your end_epoch time is after the up coming superblock!  This is very important or you will not show up on the proposals page.  The next super block is about 20 days away, so voting will end in about 18 days.

I know I keep talking about decentralized governance and proposals, but this is an important feature of Terracoin that some people are still unaware of.

In this same vein, I also wanted to highlight a proposal that was put in by EyesWideShut because it is a good example of someone using the proposal process to not only help Terracoin, but to also help other people.

Briefly, the proposal is for Terracoin to sponsor an asylum seeker and refugee soccer/football team in the UK.  This will give us marketing exposure in a small way, but mostly it will show new investors what we are trying to do in the long term.  Which is help people while we also grow the coin!

Next on the variety of things I wanted to talk about is that NovaExchange is shutting its doors so get your TRC out of there and into another exchange.  This has caused the price to take a hit.

In a one two punch the Bitcoin price has surged leading to people dumping many altcoins including Terracoin.

Terracoin has been around a long time, and even to this day old holders appear not knowing that Terracoin is under development.  I believe this means that there are people out there who just see that the price is way higher then it has been in years.  They want to get some extra cash so they dump their TRC not knowing that Terracoin could explode at any moment.

Looking at Cryptopia's sell orders there is only 10 bitcoins between a 490% price increase.

What does this mean to you?  It means now is a good time to pick up a few more masternodes so you can get the rewards, vote, and put in proposals.

Nov 9th Terracoin Update - Donations

This week I wanted to focus on the donations concept for Terracoin.

I wrote about it briefly in the last weekly but I have been getting a lot of questions about it.

The Terracoin Foundation is dedicated to helping the world while we maintain and improve Terracoin.

How we will do this is by accepting Terracoin donations to the Donations for the World TRC address (1BQH6gBzkxxyMQG3VSJCHnmVGfWu64nbPL).  We already have 80,000 TRC to be donated in 20,000 chunks to community picked non-profits.  These coins are from before the hard fork so they are allocated differently then new coins donated to that address.

New coins donated to that address will be turned into masternodes and once TRC hits $1 we will start donating to community picked non-profits.  These non-profits will be large controversy free non-profits that are helping the world.  As Terracoin and the Terracoin Foundation grows we want to staff The Terracoin Foundation with volunteers and actually take half of the net profits from the masternodes and do the non-profit work ourselves.  This will cut out the middle man and with our public ledger and blockchain, we can show where all expenses go.  This will be revolutionary in the non-profit world and it will be an amazing opportunity for Terracoin to show the world we truly want to make Earth a better place.  The other half of the net profits will be turned into more masternodes to continue to grow the foundation.

To help with this step please donate to the Donations for the World TRC address.  We currently have 7 masternodes run by the TRC Foundation and you can check on them any time with this link.  We have received enough donations to add another 2 TRC Foundation masternodes and once we have solved our Woot hosting issue they will be set up.

So what about your local non-profit, or your favorite non-profit that isn't controversy free?  You can put in a proposal for that!  You need to own a masternode and you should probably test the waters to see if people will vote yes on your proposal.  Otherwise you might waste 10 TRC for a proposal no one is interested in.  Here is the link on how to put in a proposal.

I imagine people will be more willing to vote on the proposal if there is a marketing angle as well.

The last way you can help is if you have a Kiva.org account.  We have a team on there, which is here.  We currently only have a couple of people on the team, but the more people on the team and the more "loans" we give out the more we help the world while also showing a nice Terracoin presence.

One more thing.

We have decided to start taking suggestions for the next altcoin tested innovation we want to add to Terracoin.

Nov  16th Terracoin Update - Roundup

Below I have a roundup of our forum and social media numbers so you can see the growth of our awesome community! I have also linked to all of them and included links to other important things below that.

We are hard at work gathering ideas and concepts for the future of Terracoin.

JacobKerr has started another rebuild of the website, and SixofFive is improving the proposals site. Check out the Discoveries area specifically on the proposal site: https://proposals.terracoin.io/v2/discoveries.php.  This allows people to post their proposal ideas before they are submitted to the network so that people can discuss them.  It is always a good idea to gauge your proposal idea before you pay the 10 TRC to put it in the network.

You have less than a week of voting so get your votes in!  Also, it's not too late to enter a proposal in since the budgetary spending still has funding.

When we first discussed adding decentralized governance many people had a lot of ideas they wanted to put forward, so now is the time!  If you need help, feel free to ask  on any of the forums below.

It also sounds like Atomic Swap, or ViaCoin’s  ClearingHouse may be the next step that we take for other coins code to implement.  Another suggestion made was to change Terracoin from SHA256 to multi-algo with merge mining.  We would keep SHA256, but we would also add all the other algorithms, so everyone can mine.

Rewards?  Do you mean masternode rewards?  After you set up a masternode it takes about 24 hours for you to get your first reward.  This stats site shows updated info. https://masternode.terracoin.io/stats.php
