New application of blockchain on Kazakhstan. The National Bank of Kazakhstan has revealed it is planning to harness blockchain technology to sell short-term debt notes to investors. According to a news portal coindesk, the new solution based on the blockchain will allow retail investors to trade short-term debt notes online, using only a smartphone and bypassing intermediaries. In the long term, the platform could be used to facilitate initial public offerings (IPOs).

The National Center for Cyberspace (NCC) of Iran issued a draft proposal for the regulation of digital currencies in the country. According to coinidol, the authorities of Iran are concerned about the wide spread of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, and plan to define its regulation in the next four months. NCC’s Commission for Regulations was choosing from five scenarios and favored the one that focuses on taking a lawful approach to make the best use of digital currencies. For now the transactions with bitcoin are considered illegal in Iran since there are no regulations covering cryptocurrencies.

According to Coindesk, Randall Lord and his son Michael were sentenced to prison terms of 46 and 106 months respectively for running an unlawful money transmission. Nicholas Sarwark, Libertarian National Committee Chairman , strongly condemned the government's case and called for the sentencing to be overturned.
