Summary
(http://coinmagi.org/misc/images/magi-thread/OP/space.png)
Magi (XMG) is a PoW/PoS hybrid coin (mPoW/mPoS). Magi is designed with difficulty dependent mining reward for proof-of-mining (PoW) blocks in order to put network hashrate under a certain limit. Magi at the first time implements a novel proof-of-staking mechanism, to frustrate potential attack through accumulating a large number of coins and offline staking time (read more.. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9991269#msg9991269)). Magi is at the first concentrating on the low cost in maintaining its block system, for example, through cost effective mining devices. To this end, Magi, aiming at fairness, cost effective and energy efficiency, strives for every single effort to make mining be available to everyone, and provides an even playing field for people looking to issue digital coins without expensive equipment.
mPoW, the magi's proof-of-work (PoW) protocol, in addition to required computational works to be done to deter denial of service attacks, is also a network-dependent rewarding model system. The mPoW rewards participants who solve complicated cryptographical questions not only to validate transactions but also to create new blocks and generate coins. The amout of coins generated are constantly monitored by the mPoW protocol and tuned on the basis of an attraction-repulsion model: 1) incremental rewarding to stimulate network activities during passive mining phase, and 2) decremental rewarding to mitigate redundant mining sources during agressive mining phase. mPoW can effectively govern the magi's network and limit it under a certain scale, enabling the general devices to be capable of mining magi. ++ For details - A network-dependent rewarding system: proof-of-mining (https://arxiv.org/abs/1409.7948)
mPoS, the magi's proof-of-stake (PoS) protocol, aims to achieve distributed consensus through operations in addition to mPoW. mPoS is designed such that it rejects potential attacks through accumulating a large amount of coins or offline staking time, either of which leads to security concerns. Similar to mPoW's operation, mPoS is constructed in accordance with the concept of the attraction-repulsion model. Magi hybridizes mPoW with mPoS, and integrate both consensus approaches in order to acquire benefits from the two mechanisms and create a more robust payment system. ++ For details - magi's PoS (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9991269#msg9991269)

FAQ
1. The staking has "Not enough weight", what should I do?
For the regular PoS, "Not enough weight" means insufficient staking time. For Magi's PoS (mPoS), however, the cause can be correlated with the over-time staking. The latter is a typical issue raised by people from time to time. There is only one way to solve this which can be done via resetting staking from scratch: send XMG to another address in the same or another wallet. You may want to use the "Coin control" feature in order to select the input sources. Do not try to stake with a significant amount of XMG that mitigates the weight as well. Once this is done, remaining the wallet running shall gains some staking weights.Logo:

The team of Magi consists of many lovers of the digital currency.
Main developer is Joe Lao, a real genius with a vision.
Joe finished in 2014 in the top 5 of the election of best developers in the world in the field of digital currencies
Magi started in 2014 without ICO. Other enthusiasts supported Joe and formed a team. Since most of the work is done by the volunteer team members, some developments take longer than other currencies that have a large fund to pay for new developments.
It is difficult to mention all names here as we do not want to pass people. Many are active here but also in the other channels of Magi such as Slack, Telegram, Reddit, Steemit etc. For example; ex33s, Goldlabel, Filoozom, Suntribe, Magicoin, dury10 & many more.
Soon there will be a list of names of the team members and be placed here.
Magi XMG is a unique project that stays true to our goals & follows its own unique route. Built for all people & backend by growing international friendly community. MAGI XMG FAIR & UNIQUE, CREATED TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THE CRYPTO WORLD!
Maintenance for Magi (XMG) on Bittrex.Maintenance finished! ;D
Will be back online soon.
I think it's an ambitious idea with a lot of costs. Picking which coins are "good" is not that easy. Creating an exchange is not easy nor free, there are a lot of costs involved including time, security, and possibly compliance issues. I'm sure there are many other things that I have no clue about and did not think of.
Maybe a group of coins teaming up to promote their group on an already existing exchange where the infrastructure is already in place?
Hi all.
I had an idea and just like to share it here.
The reason: We have to make a difference together.
There are so many different coins that new people don't even know with one they need to pick.
What if some unique coins will have a new exchange.
The community from each coin will help promoting this exchange.
Means if you add some unique coins with a big community there will be a lot of people working together promoting this exchange.
The difference is the promotions: for example you have 10 different communities, all of which promote the same exchange and not just themselves.
Then a huge amount of people that work together to promote that specific exchange.
I like to hear your opinion about this idea!
Good or bad you are welcome to share it here.
add stuff to this that are different from normal exchanges
like a part of trading fees goes towards coin dev teams
like all coins get access to a fiat trading pair
and such stuff
then u will find coins that would join into such project
always ask urself why a coin traded on cryptsy and bittrex should be interested?
and find answers to this question
You can read details under the upper link.Are there any plans for XMG to become verified market at Bittrex?
https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203692234--Draft-What-is-a-Verified-Market-
Did not look at that. But M-team will check it out.
I don't understand whats the benefit for Magi for doing that at the moment. Maybe you can explain a little about it here.
Verified Market:
A Verified Market is a market whose Market currency has completed a proof-of-developer by a developer verification service such as ProofofDev.com and has traded on the Bittrex site for over 120 days.
For example, BTC-URO trades UroCoin which has a PoD score of 4 and has been on Bittrex since May 15th, 2014. Source: http://proofofdev.com/uro-urocoin/
We do not warrant any developer or coin verification scores but provide them as a tool to help traders assess the level of risk they are willing to take.

Last day to join and try to win the 2000 XMG in the Magi picture contest/give-away.

Dear op i already posted my picture on http://bitcoingarden.tk/forum/index.php?topic=4487.msg97768#new
anyway, today is decision date right ? so where would you announce the winner?
on here or on bitcoingarden
i wish i could win this competition ;)
Another example! ;D(http://i.imgur.com/R8idCtS.jpg)
There is no bug shown in Windows 2008 VPS, just stop the cpu limitation after some hours then the cpu limitation is not working after re-started again. Afterall, I'm not dare to try again because I might be kicked off if overloaded the cpu.
As I see the CPU usage in NeedIfFindIt's version is calculated based on block reward. I guess we might need to add maximum CPU limit (any situation).
True. In 0.96/0.97 if the hashrate/blockvalue is at the targeted 22MH/s/12XMG/Block it will run at 100%.
(and it happens pretty often in the morning EU time)
Today I got some time to finish the 0.98
Changelog:Code: [Select]- added ability to set your own target for Network hash rate.
- added ability to set your own target for Block Value.
- added ability to set Min & Max CPU usage.
- just 2 miners included (special thanks to Spexx & Wolf0).
- now it shows the % in reverse way (90% becomes 10% etc.).

P.M. Me if you get any issues ;)
Still an awesome job NeedIfFindIt!
The sweetspot miner is the BEST. I have an 8 core AMD and I keep my miner set on a block target of 10 XMG with a minimum cpu usage of 10% and a maximum of 30%. It seems to make my cpu run more stable if I keep the settings low, but even on 30% I still have a higher hashrate than my old i5 processor.
What I think would be a really cool improvement to the sweetspot miner would be to make it work with the magi multipool https://multi.magipool.info/. What it could do would be to switch to mining a different algorithm when the block reward falls, and make the miner more XMG then they could make continuing to mine with low block rewards. I think this would be a very good thing for the small miner, and would also produce some buy support for XMG from mining other coins when they are more profitable.
Join the lottery with 1, 2 or 3 tickets and have the chance to win the Jackpot.
1 ticket will cost you 1 XMG.
Enjoy! :)

I have the concern of the big block reward at the beginning and that did yield a non-small amount of coins. The situation was not that bad though, as fortunately the price was never been at the upper level which makes the things bit fair more or less. It was very much random thoughts, though was holding some rules in changing the things. We attempted a small corner of the iceberg, and ended up many more coming to tackle. I hope some will get changed sooon.

I apologize that I haven't been able to look at the stake split threshold feature and wallet speedup; would be at SOME time I guess.
All, as for the warning, a quick getting around probably you could try is startover of the block chain. I guess the warning will go away after some blocks. Here what you need is to download about 300MB block chain data from coinmagi.org site I've uploaded to. Or simply let the wallet sync from scratch.

Rename your prior magi directory to something else, like "Magi.mv"; rename the name of the directory of the above download & unzipped file to "Magi" (make sure it sits in the right place); copy "wallet.dat" from "Magi.mv" to "Magi"; launch the wallet.

Coin Magi added to Staisybit, the new Universal Cloud Staking WalletAwesome Staisybit! Magi cloudstaking!! ;D
Hi to all CoinMagi community members.
I'm here to briefly present our new Cloud Staking service to your community and to announce that this currency has been added to our system. As you can see in this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1091402.msg12446060#msg12446060) post, XMG is up and running, even if withdrawals are still temporarily disabled.
If you do not know Staisybit, please take a look at our Announcement thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1091402.0) . You can also reach us at staisybit.com (https://staisybit.com), but there is lack of information over there; we still are in beta phase and service and team presentations have been left as last stuff to do.
Get in touch with us on Twitter (@staisybit (https://twitter.com/staisybit)) or via email at [email protected] .
I will post here further updates.
Stay tuned, follow us and... happy staking!
Cheers

Magi is on spot 7!
Hello,
I've been reading the forums for a month or so, but thought I should stop lurking and say Hi. I've been mining XMG for a couple of months and am getting better returns than other currencies I tried so far.
Just letting you know, I've joined Cryptsy and added my vote.
Community I received a message from Cryptsy.Magi community,
As you all know Magi is doing really nice on Cryptsy votinglist.
We also know that Cryptsy has the right to add every coin.
They are looking at activity and other things.
But i have to warn you all (this warning is also for other coins)
Beware of this man(http://i.imgur.com/4Q3aBvx.png)This is NOT the real Bigvern.

Good post, we need to alert Bigvern that a scammer is pretending to be him.
We put out a tweet about this a month or so back. Ill retweet it again. Sadly some people did fall for it. Glad to hear Magi did not :)
Greetings All,
We have re-opened our Magi (XMG) pool on our new SSO pool setup. Come enjoy a new and fresh interface to mine your XMG's!
A while ago our fees were of 2% but we did lower them to 1% (even if it's not profitable at all to do so) to encourage more users to come by.
Come mining on our pool at: www.SuchPool.pw/xmg (http://www.SuchPool.pw/xmg)
We have proactive and fast support ready to help you in the event you would get any issues. Comments and feedbacks are always appreciated.
Thanks for your support since we opened our START pool.

More info will follow tomorrow. ;D
Block reward is now amazingly high. Start mining PoW!Yes, I agree, its been a nice couple of days of Magi mining =) I find the best time for mining is the same day as a windows update
Thanks again feldenthorne. Magi really appreciate your help and activity. Awesome!I opened the sites, but I don't understand a dot of it. I am not a programer, so I really need that someone give me all the steps to make this miner work . otherwise I will be forced to give up.... :-\You'll probably end up needing to compile GNU MP from the source (https://gmplib.org/#DOWNLOAD), then. This guide (https://gmplib.org/manual/Installing-GMP.html#Installing-GMP) gives you the proper commands (./configure && make && make install), but be aware that you'll need to grab a copy of autoconf (sudo port -t install autoconf , maybe?) if OSX doesn't ship with one.Thanks for trying, but didn't work. :-[I've found a lot of .profile files too and now I am having problems after running ./configure CFLAGS="-O3" CXXFLAGS="-O3", this is the error: " configure: error: GNU MP not found, see https://gmplib.org/ "Just a shot in the dark (because I don't own a Mac), but you might want to enter the following in a terminal to (re?)install GNU MP:Code: [Select]sudo port clean gmp
sudo port -t install gmp
Sorry guys, for all these nuisance...
Not a problem.
You have to download the source (gmp-6.0.0a.tar.bz2 (https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gmp/gmp-6.0.0a.tar.bz2), for example), unzip it, then open a terminal and navigate to that folder in the terminal window. It will probably be named "gmp-6.0.0a".
Within the unzipped folder, you should find "gmp-6.0.0". This folder contains all the files necessary for autoconf to build a makefile for your system. (You'll notice that the contents are a slew of folders and files, such as acinclude.m4 and bootstrap.c.)
From this directory, issue the commands listed in the tutorial (https://gmplib.org/manual/Installing-GMP.html#Installing-GMP):Code: [Select]./configure
make
make install
That should install GNU MP on your system in whatever the default directory for libraries is on Macs.

@n0m4d33, addition to compiling gmp mentioned by feldenthorne, macports installation might be easy. What you get after running gmp installation? that is,
sudo port install gmp
I don't see any reason macports would reject to install.
After running gmp installation this is what is returned:Code: [Select]---> Cleaning gmp
iMac-de-Andre:~ Andre$ sudo port install gmp
---> Cleaning gmp
---> Scanning binaries for linking errors
---> No broken files found.
But when I try to compile the minerd, after running:Code: [Select]./configure CFLAGS="-O3" CXXFLAGS="-O3"
the terminal returns this error:Code: [Select]configure: error: GNU MP not found, see https://gmplib.org/
You actually have gmp installed; what's missing is to configure path so that the compiler can find the library.
Open up "Terminal", run:Code: [Select]cd
nano .profile
you can use command+V to paste following lines to the file .profile:Code: [Select]export CPPFLAGS="-I/opt/local/include $CPPFLAGS"
That is step 3 of https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9576881#msg9576881 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9576881#msg9576881)
export LDFLAGS="-L/opt/local/lib"
export PATH="/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:$PATH"
Then Ctrl+o to save, Ctrl+x to exit;
Exit Terminal and relaunch it, then configure & compile miner again.
In two days the PoI II campaign will end, but how much is the interest ? And about the PoM campaign (I'msorry if I've already asked this) when does it end ?
I can not tell the exact interest at the moment. Only when the Proof of Interest is finished.
The Proof of Mining will end also soon.
Magi team would not end the campaigns on the same date, Magi team is working out a plan for that.
Also working on new campaigns. :)
I'm waiting for these new exciting campaigns ;) ! Maybe a PoI III ? Or maybe something totally different :) ?
And if you think this is awsome, i can tell you its only the start. ;DLIKE Magi on FACEBOOK here: https://www.facebook.com/CoinMagi

Thanks for the respons Starmman! Appreciate that!Magi is doing nice on Cryptsy!cex.io might be interesting, since their trading prices can sometimes be different to other exchanges do to the number of miners they have linked to their site - however, likely they would need to add the coin as a mining pool to ghash.io - which would likely cause the Network Hashrate to increase dramatically
Are there other exchanges our community would like to see Magi added?
Why is this coin special? Its a normal altcoin
Let me make you a summary:
- CPU-only coin mostly because if hashrate increases a lot the network reward decreases. That also denies botnet mining.
- PoS-II, nice reward even if you have low balance.
- Hybrid coin, if PoW ends to be CPU-only coin then don't worry because PoS will still be available.
- Nice community which helps you in a long-term investment.Thanks for informing me. I will investigate to mine and buy, I like antiasic coins ;)Why is this coin special? Its a normal altcoinGood question! Many things. Read the OP and you find the information about the unique blockreward system, First POS-II, MQW and much more. Any specific questions? You are welcome to ask.
I was attracted to Magi for a number of reasons, mainly because it has some USP's as already summarised by LordCoder - and a great community. If you order by number of posts in the alt coin announcement - you'll see that Magi is the 25th most popular coin (19th in terms of views, suggesting there is also a lot of inactive members also reading the posts) - and most of the coins that are higher in ranking have been around for quite a bit longer than Magi. Some other highly capitalised coins/shares have virtually no community. Some in the top 10 on coin market cap have only around 50 pages and still use bitcointalk as their main communication channel.

It is amazing that we get that far. I concerned getting more than 100 pages; getting that was one of the supports asking Bittrex to add us into their exchange list to evidence the popularity; now more than 500 pages. And I think it would never be the case of closing up this thread and opening up a NEW self-moderated thread as some others did that is almost like a suicide.

The awesome Magi mining guide for newbies posted here.
That’s great! This would definitely help newbies get into Magi mining and will result in stronger adoption. I remember my first time mining a crypto coin. I didn’t even knew how to set up the miner nor the mining pool. Those were my first steps but eventually I improved my knowledge by joining this community and became a skilled miner. Good job! :D

Hi, can you give me a link where to download the latest version for mining xmg? Also, how can I increase the hash rate for mining fast? I deleted those files because i'm getting errors. Thanks for helping.
There are a few miners available (in the 1st page ANN post, a little mess there now). Also I got a handful miner and will post it soon; be sure to check back this thread for downloading link....... It's sure no full power running miners on VPS, or vendors (mostly) put a limitation in your service;...
I have a VPS that I mine XMG on, should I put it out to full power or keep it at 50%?
...
Not sure yet how all this works.
But when I found this question, I was reminded how I limited the CPU usage back in the days, using
apt-get install cpulimit ...
https://github.com/drakoin/LinuxWallet/blob/master/mueminerstart.sh#L14-L19
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=460178.msg10522742#msg10522742
Perhaps that can help you somehow?
Or does XMG itself contain a function to limit the CPU usage?
Thanks for the info. How to adjust the hashrate is very much where we can make improvement in the miner, for optimum hashrate and hence ROI. For now, there is a repo which has the "-e cpu_efficiency" option, for example, -e 60 (%60 CPU):
https://github.com/magi-project/m-cpuminer-v2
I just did precompiled binaries for different os along with a gui frontend, and will post them soon.
Thank you guys. Here is another one.

As mentioned by fragilefungi, a convenient miner (ideally click & go mining) is a much need, and I believe that will get us more miners without painful compiling (notice if you compile from the source code, you might get a specific optimized miner only for your pc which might be efficient than the following compiled ones). Also, I compiled the miner with "-e" flag to adjust the CPU efficiency from inside the miner.

I have forked the code of ScryptMiner by Matoking (https://github.com/Matoking/ScryptMiner-GUI), which is based on Qt. This is very advantageous; we can add codes later on to adapt to the special block reward of magi, and design a smart miner with strategy mining. This will be a one in the to-do list. Here are the compiled binaries:

Notice "-e 60" in block "Additional parameters" in the above image adjusts the CPU mining usage, e.g., 60%. All the parameters are automatically saved into m-cpuminer.conf, in the same folder. The GUI basically makes use of the miner under folder "miner". If you can compile with a higher efficiency, please let me know. Please make sure you modify the pool parameters, or you will mine through my account.
This GUI is kinda similar to NeedIfFindIt's Sweet Spot http://xmg.makejar.com/ (http://xmg.makejar.com/), which will be better than this I believe; the advantage is that we can make it available for mac os and linux too, and most of other platforms because of Qt base. The linux version is statically linked, if you run into issues, let me know. I very much like the miner being compiled in low end/old system/pc. I believe magi's mining is useful in this aspect. I will get some details for the PoW. I do agree one mining a coin cares about the return, while I like the idea you place the miner with limited CPU usage, you can forget it (say 10% CPU): think about how many computers which run idle in the offices or other places for overnight, at least it's a waste of power. I am not encouraging you use an office PC for mining, but running a limited miner in a daily computer is quite doable, and that, from another point of view, is to save energy as they maintain a coin system provided that magi is useful at some extent and this purpose will be meaningful as well.

Thanks to lightsplasher to total balance function on the Qt interface.
Please make sure you have a backup of the wallet before launching the new app. All versions (Win, Mac, Linux) are with db4.8, and this will be the version we should use. There was a mistake in my linux machine which built the linux wallet with db5, and I made sure the linux version is a statically linked version (compiled by linux mint, it'll be fine with all debian based variants, but I'm unsure other linux version). Again please make a copy of wallet.dat before launching the new app.
Regarding the launch time of the current wallet, I believe this is not an issue of the db version, as I have used higher version in my linux box. I have the inclination of migrating latest bitcoin source code to magi, but this would be a long journey to go with.
@lightsplasher and all others, please feel free to make changes and submit merge request; I like to see changes to improve the Qt miner too if some one is interested. Currently I have tighten schedule on my personal stuffs, and I almost spent a week on the stuffs that's so expensive :D; this thing is really time consuming. Here is the repo.

Just loaded up the newly updated magi app in the google store and started playing around with it. I tried to watch my main address and pointed the camera at the QR code, it found it and then the app stopped working and crashed. On the price page, it might be nice to have the price and volume on the major exchanges. The graph could be much smaller to put that information in. The hashrate graph looks good, but would it be possible to change the time axis like it is with the price graph? It would be nice to be able to zoom in and see what is going on over the last few hours. Keep up the good work, the app is getting better all the time!Thanks Fragilefungi for the good feedback. Will talk with the android dev about this. The choice Magi has to make at the moment is : release app today, because thats what Magi promoted. (MagI android app will be released in october) and update the improvements OR update improvements first and than release the android app. Personally I don't think it would be a problem to release it today and update improvements afterwards. What's your opinion?
There are a few bugs still, all related to the address tab. The QR reader crashes if you try to import an address that has a balance. I tried it with a new address and it imported that one just fine. I just noticed a new bug, which is that if you try to import an address manually but don't finish typing it in, the add address text still shows if you switch to the XMG price or Network hashrate. This text box goes away if you minimize the app and go back to it but it is kind of distracting. This happened when I was trying to type in my address manually. I moved the phone from being vertical to horizontal, which makes it easier to type with two hands on the keyboard. I tried rotating the phone to horizontal on the initial screen and it crashed the app, so it is defiantly having problems all around switching from vertical to horizontal screen shape. I think fixing the text box bug in the horizontal screen position needs to be done before the app is officially released.
Coin Magi (XMG) first time Wallet installation for Windows, (just the basics here).Thank you very much Redrover! This is what I mean!
Note: I am not an expert, I just wrote down the procedures that I use. Will some of the pro users out there mind proof reading this and let me know of any errors that need to be corrected or repost with corrections (thanks). This is meant to be a very simple guide to help new users setup a wallet and get started, thanks!
Download the Windows wallet from: http://coinmagi.org/files/magi-release/m-wallet-latest-win.zip
Extract this file to where you want the wallet program folder on your computer.
Open the extracted folder and navigate to either "32" or "64" depending on your system - most current computers today will be "64" but if in doubt, you can always choose "32" and it will work. From this folder, double click magi-qt.exe, this will launch the wallet and begin downloading the blockchain - be patient, it is a large download and could take a few hours to complete. If it gets stuck, you can close the wallet and launch it again. Also note, just launching the wallet can take a few minutes to actually open, this is normal, be patient Padawan. ;D
FYI - the downloaded files (blockchain and the wallet.dat) by default will be in - Users \ *username* \ AppData \ Roaming \ Magi
Basic operations in the wallet
Overview - Exactly that, an overview of your balance and transactions.
Send coins - This is where you send coins from your wallet to another address.
Receive coins - List of your addresses, click new address to create a new address in your wallet, do this now if there is no address listed. This will be your first Coin Magi address, you might want to copy and paste it in a text file somewhere so it’s handy.
Transactions - A list of all your transactions.
Backup your wallet! (Very Important to do this NOW)
Click File - Backup wallet - Now give it a name and choose where you want your backup, this will initially be a very small file but will grow over time. The default name is wallet.dat but I would recommend a more descriptive name such as magiwallet.dat. Now - copy this file to a safe location just in case your computer melts down, something like a thumb drive. Guard this drive and file, it is your wallet and could be very valuable, and at the moment is not encrypted. edit... if you will be encrypting your wallet, then do the backup after you do the encryption.
Encrypt your wallet - this is optional but recommended in case of a hack or theft, remember, your wallet and coins are valuable.
Click Settings - Encrypt wallet - choose a passphrase and don't forget it. You will use this password to unlock your wallet. edit... If you choose to use encryption, then make your backup after encrypting, not before. Also whenever you create a new address in your wallet, it's a good idea to make a new backup.
Ok that's the basics, now a new version comes out, how do you safely upgrade?
Upgrade Coin Magi Wallet to a new version:
First, technically this is not an upgrade procedure, it’s more like just downloading a newer wallet version and using it instead of the one you currently have, very easy. The new version will utilize all of the data previously downloaded and will automatically use your existing wallet.dat file as well.
1. Backup your wallet again, just in case something goes wrong, same as above but what I do is give it another name like magiwallet2.dat - you can never have too many backups and this can be used to recover in the rare event that a wallet upgrade goes bad.
2. Make sure the wallet is closed.
3. Download the new wallet, extract the files, and run the new version of magi-qt.exe. That’s all there is to it, easy peasy.
I personally do not delete the old version for at least a day just in case a bug appears, but so far, this has not been an issue with Coin Magi. Hope this helps out a few new users who are worried about it being complicated – it’s really not very difficult.
Last step, join #magi in IRC for the rains (free coins) and then you can send them to your shiny new wallet.
edits: (thanks feldenthorne)
Do backups AFTER encryption and after creating new addresses.
Keep wallet open and unlocked for staking to earn interest.
Newer wallets will have an update reminder notification - so it's an alert to get the newest version, this is being implemented now.

MagiPi | The first COIN MAGI Pool on a RaspberryPi
Nice Welcome in our awesome Magi community!!
The recent price variation displays that magi runs the opposite to BTC, unlike those altcoins such as LTC following the same pattern. It is mostly the reason that one may cash out BTC to gain benefits. All altcoins, except those mainstream ones, may not avoid this end. It isn't all about price, but as far as price is concerned, altcoins are more likely pumped high and dumped low. When attention (speculation for example) is shifted off the coin, getting lower price is almost certain. This is awkward but it'll be weird if we talk about rational norms in this land filled with "coins" coming out everyday. A coin with number of coins generated in PoW each day is under the pressure of price lowering; however, diminishing this cause is yet to eliminate the essential reason towards low price. What's matter factoring in this process and stabilizing or pushing the price is wide adoption, by people, though merchants are one of the channels, they are the middle part reaching more people, and mining is the bridge too. In contrast to wide adoption, centralization is obviously the one which needs to be avoided. When cryptocoins are talked in nowadays, decentralisation, which, in certain conditions, is very much a dream, is a need; heading towards a dream directs what's need to be done.
To make magi to be towards a mainstream, legitimate approaches should be followed in my view. What/how those are legitimate? To be frank, I did have naive thinkings and concerns initially on the price; to think of legitmate, we might drop off price factors, or diminish the role of the factors which worry about the price too much. Though people care about the price, one must admit P&D isn't the way we're heading. We can push magi in a formal way. With that in mind, what's happening should not simply cure a symptom, or raise up additional unsettled issues. We may push out technical contributions which are useful in general and are very much needed to this land.
We may hold on a few basic features for magi without compromising for the purpose of curing the things, nor should we eliminate some of them as a remedy to the "brokens". Magi supposes 1) coin distribution among people, 2) low costs in maintaining the network; at the least these two make transformation positively towards the wide adoption. It would be very tough to make a purpose (or sort of) to please the miners. What's need of mining for profits is mostly contrast to the idea, and this isn't the purpose of the way that bitcoin is designed either. Instead how coins are distributed into miners is the crucial process. What's proposed by people in prior posts are not unlikely and doable but we'll need research & verification to make them sounds feasible firmly. In my limited knowledge by far, the following is a to-do list, mostly, which I had ideas coming up time-to-time, so they aren't minutes ideas at this writing. You may not expect perfect solutions which, without more depth research, are barely possible, neither the bitcoin is as well.
Listed are in order of preferences. Don't expect too soon; I am keen to carry on but would not be able to at this time. If one has patience enough, we may see these coming along at some point (I'm not rushing on the coin but more pleased to be with it (plus some personal stuffs as mentioned earlier)).
1) The algo and it'll need a look at possible change in the way how hash is found; however, if the FPGA is supposed to do anything like CPU, nothing special. We'll get the first-hand experience with FPGA or GPU etc for know-how, however. As I pointed out it is nearly impossible to deal with mining farms by any techs, and what needs to be dealt with are their capabilities.
2) Improvement on the difficulty adjustment. The difficulty issue is actually the center of the issues. This will benefit dozen of aspects and thus this improvement is almost a must. The block reward adjustment is based on difficulty; because of its insane variation, difficulty used in the block reward calculation must be averaged out by taking into account many past blocks. For this reason, there is a lag in what's happening in hashrate and what's generated in rewards. A proper adjustment in difficulty will benefit the blocks being generated in an equal time spacing by which we can avoid the 51% attack, and the network is quite secured. Obviously business merchants are pleased by this fact too. The more profound solutions in the difficulty may come out changes in the hash finding. Implementation of this is absolutely a great contribution to this land.
3) A smart adjustment of the reward. I pretty think this is crucial but we need a smart adjustment of the reward to be super responsive. With the improvement of 2), this won't be difficult. There are few situations:
a) big miners are for profits, they will be frustrated by the rewards, and they won't stay long;
b) big miners fire 51% attack, though I suppose the improved block time would resist this to happen, extra works need to be done;
c) big miners abuse the system; for no reasons, they stay. The PoW stops running by i) trivial / zero rewards, ii) shutting down PoW blocks. I need a comprehend thinking on this. Absolutely this would cause critical concerns since generic miners get nothings. These are the remedies:
i) I recalled a post about the idea, one runs a node and gets the rewards; I believe we could implement a thing like masternode or the like; under a (protection) mode, partial of coins turn to the network who run the nodes. I am actually not a fan of enforcing people to have a certain amount of coins to get the right to claim coins but it can be likely.
ii) We have been developing an idea of running cloud mining with the revenue used to buy XMG. I believed a portion of the coins can go to encouraging individual miners. This is yet to be in plan of implementation, and also not a solution of 3).
iii) This might be insane, so weird idea. The magi team build a super miner which comes along and compensates the hashrate because miners' leaving when coming the big miners. This is not a solution of 3).
In my view, the solution to the big miners' abusing is quite passive, and there are no real solutions to that by far to my knowledge. Shutting the PoW down and put the coin in a PoS mode is the way going. This solution is far better than bitcoin, though it is unlikely, but technically if one sets a super miner to control the network, that's the end; if this is not happening to bitcoin, but could happen to other altcoins.
It quite sounds weird by a fact that the big miners takes more than half of the hashrate. When we implement the above, we won't need to worry too much about that, as long as the network is secured. For the business side, it's none of their worries about who is mining, right?
4) This is pretty a plan I mentioned and am actually reluctant to talk it about. I am keen to implement a solar powered miner and make zero mining cost; this is one of the reasons we need PoW and would be great to reach more people. Mining should really go to the casual phase in my view, and should never be taken as a serious business (then I wouldn't order my KnCminer; giving them a chance to abuse or cheat the system), though it is likely a dream, it is a dream I'd like to advocate. Imagining solar powered miners running all over the world 24 hour a day and 7 days a week without interrupts by the costs, no matter how big miners are on or off. You are seeing that one may abuse the system, but I see a fact: coins go to majority hands than minority. Network security isn't an issue once we get improvement on the difficulty; surely security concern should be censored.
5) Any more?
Here's the socialized, partially centralized solution, are you ready comrades? :D
Is it possible to fix the PoW block reward at perhaps 5 xmg and pay it out to only one address in the network, no matter which miner finds it? Then using an advanced form of PoM rewards we can then pay out miners with equal amounts from funds in this address.
Each miner having at least 2000 XMG could register their address and use it for mining. PoM payments could automatically go out evenly each day to all miners with at least this minimum balance and a consistent 24 hour hash rate.
Having a certain amount of XMG (2000?) at an address that gets the PoM payments is needed so that people who are not supporting the coin through saving value can't register multiple miners for PoM payments.
I am thinking the reward reduction as fragilefungi mentioned, however it may not sound a right one way to go. Taking the BTC strategy (it may not sound a standard but it was an example), with 50 BTC/block initially, 7200 BTC in a day, which is little high XMG average amount of 5000 coins in a day. Provided rising in XMG's value over time, we will expect more miners and then reduction in the generated coins (plus yearly reduction see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9991269#msg9991269 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9991269#msg9991269)). Pushing maximum to 5 XMG may frustrates generic miners a lot, though we can hold the price and prevent big miners (they may also abuse the system with no reason), we may reach less people than expected. There exactly exists a balance point, when less coins are being generated in the long run. The mining revenue should be back to similar to level as what is now (suppose) that needs a reduction in the number of miners. If one is to abuse the system without caring about mining, then it's the same end.
Mining to a single address may sound like we make a big premine and distribute into the community as many coins done in the past.In the long run I feel we need to gradually decrease the PoW block reward and go full PoS. (I thought this was the original plan) This will reduce potential issues. The way things stand right now can you imagine the problem that would happen if XMG was worth $500 a coin? A large hash rate miner can take almost the entire PoW block rewards for themselves - as a guess maybe over 400 or 500 xmg in a day? (The low PoS rate by comparison generates maybe one or two XMG per day for large holders.) That kind of potential would cause many investors and business some issues and I think it is best we do something about it before the coin gets more valuable. Kudos to people for pointing this out by the way, if there is a problem with the system we should address it, even though it is difficult.
The initial goal is like going towards the full PoS, but I've leaned that to make coins more energetic, we should be PoW/PoS. The original PoS is unsafe as people can fire up attack. Magi's PoS-II is a nice one but can't fully avoid "richer gets rich" which is one of the issues in PoS. For this reason, PoS interest should never go high. For a simple reason, I've seen many PoS coins go to dead end; this issue is very severe at the early stage of coin distribution (low coin value), and yes this will motivate people buying cheap coins, and can easily pile up. It is certain that price is pushed to a higher level, but we won't agree that coins held by few hands is a good sign, right? When few people hold most of coins, they are actually like the big miners; with the higher interest, the worse the situation. I'd not say this is a certain consequence but most likely. Coins going wide adoption which needs more and more people participating and own the coins; coins bough by a few people is really going the opposite. In addition, making people engaging buying as the primary channel to get coins is something. In my view, PoS is better to be an additive, which will take an important role once the PoW is done; while I am little concerning about the inflation by comparing with coins like bitcoin.
I forgot to mention the assumption of coin price. With price rising by 50000 times to be around $500, every one will gain 50000 of profits. Is this a case? No. Following is actually what happened; with the price rising, there will be more miners joining which reduces the amount of coins generated and individual shares as well, mostly ending up the same mining profit as you will get right now, or similar to mining other coins; This is a balance point, so called market.
By taking a deep looking at above, I believe this won't happen. Let me know any thoughts.I agree with Lightsplasher and tittiecoiner here. In just the last few days we've seen nearly the entire block rewards vanish and or go to one large miner, at this point that large miner is single handedly controlling the coin rewards, that day has already come and we really should do something to fix it.
I guess I've covered the most: high interest, low PoW reward. Regarding the big miner, I'd say he is not controlling but prolong the PoW, of course we need an improvement on PoW reward as mentioned.no, i meant it that way, that not the net hashrate is taken for calculation, but the hashrate of the acutal solver. is this a miner with high hashrate (as a pool for example), the reward should be lower. is it a solominer, the reward should be higher. with an overall cap by the whole nethashrate. that is my idea.
Actually the coin can't see the network, but only the time spent in finding blocks; so it's not likely to distinguish individuals; but I'll take a look at the possibility.if you want large miner POW frustration, I'll give it to you:
you should kill pools, rework magi daemon to accept up to 250Kh/s - roughly three i7 CPUs
[...]
As some posts pointed out, people can split their hashrate, though we can imagine how difficult it is when speaking of hundreds of miners, I know people can run multiple daemons in one machine. People always have their potentials to do that. But I don't see this is unlikely and I'll take a look at this as well.Just another example, let's say I would create my own coin using the same algo as Magi does (or another CPU only algo) and need miners. It would be easy t throw some big hashrate for a few days or weeks on Magi to make my own coin look more profitable.
I don't see this maters; they are many other coins out there probably with profits better than magi, and I failed to see really making mining profitable in either PoW or PoS is important though it is to some degree (that's the PoW reward adjustment), but we shouldn't make it as #1. Also I believe people mining XMG are not because mining is profitable.Scrypt coins have similar problems with multipools. When they switch to a coin, the huge hashrate lets the difficulty go up considerably. The script checks all x minutes if a block has been found. If no block was found, the profit switch leaves the coin that remains with much lower total hashrate and a super high difficulty. In order to prevent this, some coins are using DGW (http://cryptocurrency.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Gravity_Wave) and similar techniques.
Maybe you can adapt something like this to solve the reward problem?
Exactly what I need to look at the difficulty we need to improve, and magi needs a more stable block time.
I am keen to implement a solar powered miner and make zero mining cost; this is one of the reasons we need PoW and would be great to reach more people
Anything over 100 XMG will usually stake within a couple days. Anything over 1000 XMG will stake in a day. I would try to keep the blocks between 100 XMG - 3000 XMG. Block sizes that are too large won't have quite as high of a reward.
I believe that blocks of coins over 30 days are at a disadvantage. Also blocks of coins over 10,000 xmg is at a disadvantage. This was done so that people can't keep their coins offline for a long period of time and then bring them back on and get a huge PoS reward. I am not sure if this is done through losing weight or some other mechanism. The coinmagi.org website needs to be updated with the exact specifications because PoS-II is very complicated and I am not exactly sure about anything.

Think it should be. I will report this to the Android app developer. Thanks for your feedback.Give the Magi team feedback about the app and share what you would like to be in the app!
It works fine on my Galaxy S3.
I added my addresses so now I've my balances at one click.
Only one thing. When you're into the app, and then into one of the options, if you click "back" (right button) the application exit. I think it should go back to the main page, instead. No?

Received message from Staisybit.com Webwallets and Staking back online. Test it.Thanks for the nice words. Magi had webwallets on staisybit.com but it looks like that one is offline.Amazing devs, amazing comunity and amazing coin.
do we have some web wallet for magi?
thanks
Why i never think on it before? thats a good question, we should have a web wallet for Magi.
Great idea man, i think that would be so cool if we can implement it on our current website or somewhere else, but definitely we should have it ;)
Magi will look into others options for that.
A web based wallet for Coin Magi would be an excellent idea. Also, it would be great to stake coins on the Web wallet itself and be able to lend Magi to gain interest as well. Then, maybe a Magi Debit Card would be released soon...Just got inspired by so many amazing ideas. ::)
Information example for the New and Awesome Magi Proof of Interest campaign 3(http://i.imgur.com/f7D2tLp.png)Banks do give interest but not very much! Magi does this better!
The Coin of the Magi is the digital currency of the future, fair unique and for all people living everywhere!
Rules for the Magi Proof of Interest 3 2016!
The base is very simple.
Time period: The Proof of Interest will last 3 months.
When can I register to participate? Registration will be open: 01-12-2015
How do I sign up? Tell me that you want to join the PoI here: will follow Registration is done by posting your XMG address replying here on Bitcoingarden or PM me here.
What information should I include? Write your participating wallet XMG address in a reply here: will follow (only one address allowed to join, all addresses will be made public at the end of registration in interest of fairness of the campaign.)
(only one address a person allowed to join)
The team will check the address's initial balance, and that balance will start participating in the PoI. (After confirmation participant)
When will I receive my interest? Interest will be paid on 01-04-2016
What happens if I have more XMG in my wallet on 01-04-2016? You will receive interest on the amount present in your wallet on that date. (Advantage participant)
What happens if I have less XMG in my wallet on 01-04-2016?
You will not receive any interest from campaign, if your initial balance has decreased more than 15% at the campaigns end! (Drawback participant)
What happens if I XMG have used to pay for goods? This has no negative effect on your interest. (Receipt required)
How will be interest distributed? The interest will be distributed by means of a specific calculation. This can be influenced by the number of participants, level of the fund and total number of coins that participate.Team will check addresses random and record the coins in that address. Based on that the interest calculation will be done!
Who will pay the interest for this Proof of Interest campaign? I received the donation of will follow (hope 25.000 XMG again)
(For the third time! Love this guy)
On his request, the donor will remain anonymous! Payouts will be done by me.
Interest will be paid to the designated address wallet.
Changes of participating address during the Proof of Interest is possible only once per user in the 3 months period (changing is not advisable, though).
Exchanges or wallet address on an exchange are excluded from participation.
Your XMG balance for joining the Proof of Interest has to be min. 500 XMG
NOTE: The team reserves it's right to send a warning to a drawback member, that his balance is decrease more than 15% on their regular random balance checks.
It seems that I am fianlly able to get over my personal stuffs, and to get the magi stuffs on the track in the following periods (estimate to be weeks or maybe months). It was tough and this happened back to February of this year. I won't be too honest to talk about what happened, but you know that is something like a life change. I still have to finalize my stuffs and then a concrete plan about magi.
A rough plan, 1) the first thing I believe to look at that is very urgent is the PoW mining we talked; I might be able to look into the things in the middle of Dec. or during the Christmas: basically summarize the PoW / PoS discussion, a plan as to what I am going to do, and pushing actual works out (in Jan. or most likely Feb.). The progress will depend on my timing in real job. I am not saying I do have the solutions as to what happened, but I do have energies to push out solutions, and believe the coin deserves such efforts; 2) I like and would like to push the magi-pi project; 3) We have to push XMG towards sort of business and make it appear to be a role that it should be. I am not guaranteeing what I will be done; I felt this is the turning point of my own situation and thus the above updates.
Thanks to all for your patience and efforts by far.
the free wallet size of https://staisybit.com at is 0.4 BTC now

Glad you are back Joe and ready to push Magi forward to new heights. It is nice to see new stuff happen in the Magi community. It is always active and very friendly. A Coin Magi wallet for the Raspberry Pi would be something great to have. Happy Thanksgiving by the way! :D
An RPi XMG wallet? There's a TON of work that needs to be done on the XMG wallet before that even begins to make sense. It's based on older coin code, and it SERIOUSLY shows it in that it maxes out a core for quite a while on startup, and uses quite a bit of memory by itself. I'm fairly sure that if you tried to load magid on a Pi or a Pi2, it would get OOM killed unless you had swap space to supplement the small RAM capacity - and even then, you'd have to wait a week for it to finish starting up.
This is quite right. I have a desire to adapt the latest bitcoin code to XMG, which, however, is with the lower priority at this moment than what's needs to make changes as to the coin specifications.
Abiky, 111magic, kondiomir, thanks for the compliment, Happy holidays.

Wolf0 which version of wallet give you that problem? with or without Qt?
i've wallet running on RPi 2 Kernel 3.x in less than 2 min ( if synched ).
There are also some extra stuff to do on RPi 2 and i'm currently modding miner for that but it's really slow because i've nit much time.
If needed i can give you some info for build it on RPi 2, because my site shutdown some days ago.
Regards
I have an ARM board, but it's not an RPi2. Anyways, do you use swap on that? And I'm amazingly surprised if it starts in less than 2min if synced.
Yes i've enabled swap but only for the Qt version.
I've also checked on other board, but RPi 2 give me the best results.
I'm waiting banana pi m3, when arrive, i can check also this one.
I'm using also RPi 2 for mining with your modded miner + some extraflag for RPi optimization at 4.73k/hash without overclock and 5,25K/hash with RPi2 overclock @ 1 ghz.
All without heatsink.

As always nice job kondiomir ;D
The register is open from 01 december 2015.
In the Netherlands we use day-month-year
pos 3 is open but price is low ;DThe register is open thats right. The first balance checks will be done after 01-01-2016.
i thought price should double x2 but it is /2 ;D
@111magicLike this idea. I need to look into this and get back on this. Really appreciate to good thinking Abiky, thank you for that.
I have a suggestion for Coin Magi and I think it would be great to expand our community and gain the attention of others, to increase price and awareness of XMG.
How about making the Bank of Magi? Such would be an online bank (like Xapo) with bank level security, 2FA, and reserve Magi funds on a cold storage (like a Federal Reserve Bank) It would act as an XMG wallet, but at the same time it would be a bank with the ability to issue Coin Magi debit cards to its users. Take a look at Xapo for a better example of this.
Is it a good idea? ;D
i think such a project could be initited by a bunch of cooperating coins
share development and running cost and place their coins as corecoins into this system
dmd diamond is open for talks inthis direction
as a high pos coin but still with constant decreasing inflation
bank in the sence of storage of wealth fit perfect to us
as a big xmg stakeholder and beliver in this coin a wana share another big love of me with uThanks Cryptonit. I'am always pro for working together. My opinion is that some good coins can make a difference in Cryptoworld.
our new dmd diamond legendary10 project
funds out of this will run into 2016 development
who know maybe a crypto bank together with friendly coins like xmg will be one of it
2016 will be that year!

Thanks Redrover for helping out here! Well done.Who stakes here Magi? :)Mozsi I do stake.
Can you please tell me some hints how to setup a wallet for best staking results? (I have approx. 2000 XMG to stake)
But I didn't do anything about the wallet.
We have some smart guys in the community who can help you.
I hope they can give me some good advice. Like staking address coins size and stuff like this. Maybe a good .conf setup or who knows :)
Currently I am experimenting with 250 coins but they don't seem like they would stake for me. Like 20 days without anything. Before that with 100 coins I made my wallet stake but 80% of them were rejected, orphaned.
What I currently understand is that a staking address should consist 100 - 1000 coins for best results. Maybe I am wrong.
Yes, I quit mining Magi, but it is so damn cheap right now (compared to BTC). Buying Magi seems to be the best way right now to make more for yourself.
I get the best results in staking usually by having single blocks of 2000 which stake once a day. If you have a total of 2000 xmg then you could just send them all back to yourself so they are all in one block, this will then stake by the next day and the blocks will be cut in half (2 blocks of 1000 each) you then combine those two blocks with coin control and send them back to yourself again and they will stake again the next day, rinse and repeat this daily.
The key is the block size rather than the amount of coins. Example: 2000 xmg in 2000 x 1 xmg blocks will likely never stake due to the network difficulty and will result in a wallet full of orphans. I've found that blocks of 1000-3000 will stake daily and I just get into a routine of sending them right back as soon as they stake - this ensures that all of my coins stake every day without any orphans at all. Hope that helps.
Computer made smoke and flame about a year ago (cheap MB and power supply) mining Magi and it has taken a long time but I'M BACK BABY ;DWelcome back amigo!
Computer rebuilt switched from win7 to Ubuntu 15.10 MATE got the wallet up and a backup .dat file BAM! even got a miner working. was a long road but back into the mines I go, it is an honor to help keep this coin going again.

nice~Goldlabel I did not check facebook yet. Did Magi passed the 700 yet? I had a very hard week a work this week but I will be in the irc tomorrow evening.So is XMG strictly CPU? Like no GPU mining whatsoever? I love this coin and am just waiting on my new PC to start CPU mining some coins like this one :) Just wanted to make sure that it truly was strictly CPU mining for this coin :) CheersIt is, but you can mine xmg here https://multi.magipool.info/ (https://multi.magipool.info/) with your gpu and get paid with xmg, here is the guide https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9529437#msg9529437 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9529437#msg9529437)

(https://www.coinwallet.co/images/coin_wallet_small.png)Thanks for adding Magi (XMG) Ethought.
XMG has been added to the CoinWallet.co online wallet and POS pool service.
https://www.coinwallet.co (https://www.coinwallet.co)
Running since 2013.
POS Pool fee: 2%
Withdrawal fee: 0.5%
As always use online wallets with caution and store the majority of your coins in cold storage or a secure / encrypted wallet on your computer.
Coinwallet.co serves as an easy to use and accessible wallet that you can access with just an internet connection. Handy to aggregate your mining income or have a small amount of coins accessible when you don't have access to your main wallet.
Congratulations Tony Son,
Your the winner of the 700 likes contest.
The 300 XMG will be soon in your wallet.

Has there been a significant change since POI3 campaign began? The mining in a pool I'm in (http://xmg.minerclaim.net/) has tanked although KH/s remains roughly the same. I estimate it at 1/10 to 1/4 of the previous mining earnings compared to before.Hmm don't know that at the moment amigo.
There you go
http://safecex.com/coin/add?q=XMG
Register at https://safecex.com/
and then the link works to vote to add Magi to the exchange.
http://safecex.com/coin/add?q=XMG
It's free and only takes a few minutes.
Thats why its very good Magi is on 4 different exchanges (and Cryptsy).converting other coins from user balances into btc is mass stealing and over all it will hurt all customers as a whole as exchanged price will be 20-1000% lower than market price because of huge quantity sold(dumped), I haven't checked but some altcoins don't have second exchange, so they worth exactly zero...My coins are still altcoins and if not, hmmmm, i think it will not make any difference anymore :(
Can someone explain me how Staking works ? im mining magicoin on sushpool (with 2cpu) so not realy big... but it works have 200khs :) Im kind off new in Altcoins so it would be nice if someone can explain me what staking is :)
thanks in advance!

# Piece of info
Magi Cheat Sheet v1: http://coinmagi.org/files/misc/magi-cheat-sheet-v1.pdf
# Brief summary
- Implement a filter for the difficulty data and stabilizing yielded block rewards; anticipation is improved accuracy of the block-rewarding (MagiReward) system in responding to the actual network hashrate;
- Introduce a CPU miner targeting at reducing hash rate (https://github.com/magi-project/m-cpuminer-legacy (https://github.com/magi-project/m-cpuminer-legacy)) which is much more meaningful for magi in comparison with any other coins;
- Adapt a close limitation of the PoS stake weight which disables potential PoS attack via accumulating significant amount of coins or offline stake time;
- Other miscellaneous updates.
Huge amount of energies consumed in the cryptocurrency has been a big issue, which is totally opposite to the global efforts in saving energy. This issue should be resolved sooner or later in order to advance the cryptocurrency any further. As one of the possible solutions, that's the reason we have PoS. However, the pure PoS mode would never give rise to decentralization. Any approaches are vain if decentralization cannot be maintained, unless one agrees with a coin with limited time of mining or with total premining, or the such likes. The PoW should be remained in order to distribute coins into a broad audience over time.
The basic rule of dealing with the energy concern is to involve a "braking" mechanism in coin design. Such a rule exists in every piece of things in nature: why earth/electrons should circle the sun/nucleus without collapsing or departure? or just imagine a vehicle without brakes. Bitcoin or litecoin does not put actual limits in the rewards, or that simply not functioning properly. That's where magi plugs in.
What do we need to save energy?
On the whole, mining should be encouraged at a lower hashrate level.
# MagiReward-V2
The issue to be solved in this upgrade is the removal of the vague dependence of block rewards on the difficulty, due to the fluctuating nature of block time. A basic consideration is applying a filter to smooth out the difficulty data. Details are as follows.
(http://www.coinmagi.org/misc/images/magi-thread/OP/2014-12-29/pow-II-V2-diff.png)
# Necessary to adjust miner efficiency?
A direct consequence of the above implementation is the well-shaped block rewards in which big rewards due to network fluctuation are totally avoided. The following figures disclose the real situation most likely:
(http://www.coinmagi.org/misc/images/magi-thread/OP/2014-12-29/pow-II-blkrewards-01.png)
Mining at a network hashrate of 22 Mh/s results in 50 XMG/block, whilst hashrate increases to 36 Mh/s like mining the air.
Who shall mine nothing?
Provided that I have a miner with hash rate of 1000 kh/s; I would have big concern of yielding nothing at its full speed, but I don't care throwing 10kh/s at nothing. The reality behind this scene will be a different story; at the time by which the exit of miners will pull the block reward back to some numbers, one is able to mine something by then. Reducing hash rate does sound the right action in this incident.
Attenuating hashrate of miners in mining bitcoins is very unusual or pointless, since the higher the hash rate, the greater the bitcoin amount mined. Except this sole "advantage", there are dozens of facts people should be aware of that increasing hash rate comes along the wrong direction: 1) running a PC miner is totally incompetent since every single person in the world would like to sharpen their miners with high hashrate; 2) running 100% CPU usage miners is impractical in most of situations even if one can do so; 3) mobile devices are incompetent under this scene.
It will be wise to run a hashrate-depressed miner under the improved MagiReward system. Technically by doing so it's possible to run miners everywhere.
# m-cpuminer-legacy
We are "joking" the miner, but this is for real that you'll need it; running it in VPS without incurring limitation imposed by vendors? working computers / school's super computer? :D Here is the option.
https://github.com/magi-project/m-cpuminer-legacyCode: [Select]minerdlegacy -o stratum+tcp://pool_url:pool_port -u pool_user.worker -p password -t thread_numbers -e cpu_efficiency
This is none different from the regular miner, except that an option "-e cpu_efficiency" is added, where cpu_efficiency is a number between 1 - 100, for example, 50 representing for 50% of CPU usage. A few instances:-e 75 --> (http://www.coinmagi.org/misc/images/magi-thread/OP/2014-12-29/cpu-75.png)
-e 50 --> (http://www.coinmagi.org/misc/images/magi-thread/OP/2014-12-29/cpu-50.png)
-e 25 --> (http://www.coinmagi.org/misc/images/magi-thread/OP/2014-12-29/cpu-25.png)
-e 1 --> (http://www.coinmagi.org/misc/images/magi-thread/OP/2014-12-29/cpu-1.png)
Given 10~30% CPU usage, the miner is more like a regular program. Please notice that neither I nor the magi team shall be responsible for any consequence because you run the miner in your working computers or school super computer.
# PoS-II-V2
What we have done in this upgrade is adding rigorous limitation on the amount of coins in one transaction for staking purpose, and reducing maximum staking time within one week. We don't expect impact on typical situation where one remains wallet online for PoS stake; the offline time should not exceed more than a week. We also recommend to keep 100 - 1000 XMG in one transaction for best results.
Again, magi implemented a braking mechanism which makes it more secure compared to any other PoS coins. To understand that, take a look at the basic PoS mining equation:and,Code: [Select]hashProofOfStake <= [Coin-age] x [Target]
[Coin-age] = [amount of coins] x [days in stake]Code: [Select][PoS-block-reward] = [Coin-age] x APR / [days in a year]
Apparently [Coin-age] is a paramount quantity for PoS, which is the driving force for people to stake with as many coins/days as possible. The major weakness in this mode is a possibility of attacking the network by mining a number of blocks ahead of other PoS miners, which can be done via accumulating significant [Coin-age] by
1) having significant amount of coins, which is technically difficult to be achieved in PPC, but rather easy in a freshly created coin;
2) accumulating significant amount of offline days of coins which shall not undergo any transactions before staking, which is a rather feasible approach.
Approaches to resolve the above situation have been proposed, mostly by manipulating the staking days. In contrast to PPC's linearly increasing coin age with time, BC and RDD are two example coins with efforts towards this, but neither of them take care of both situations simultaneously. The BC's V2.0 takes the staking time out of the equation, i.e., [Coin-age] = [amount of coins], which does not solve the issue #1. It is also none organic that one cannot buy advantages from staking time using a cheap PC, in addition to simply buying coins. The growth rate of staking days over time is compromised in RDD if one stakes coins over a month; it should be noted that any desired attack can happen within a month staking time. In addition to the above point, one should be aware that the difference in the number of coins under stake should be emphasized too. The system should encourage one staking with more coins, but discourage greedy accumulations.
Magi's PoS-II?
Magi takes the following form for coin age:where M(coins, days) is a function of the amount of coins, and the days under stake. [Coin-age] is also the so called stake weight. The best description of M is shown below:Code: [Select][Coin-age] = [amount of coins] x M(coins, days)
(http://www.coinmagi.org/misc/images/magi-thread/OP/2014-12-29/pos-II-V2-02.png)
It's rather empirical to determine the best value of stake days. I am rather taking time to sit down and figure, with a basic rule in mind, to limit it within a week. Let's see how it solves the PoS issues:
1) one holding more than 3000 XMG does not result any good in the stake weight; for staking over 25,000 XMG is like staking with nothing;
2) the maximum offline stake time is four days, beyond which staking weight starts to drop; it's unlikely to accumulate infinite staking time.
A side advantage of the PoS-II is that significant amount of offline time is not allowed. There is no advantage of gaining coin age for offline more than 4 days. For any online stake holders, the block time will be refreshed upon finding blocks. The stake weight (coin-age) nearly increases proportional to the amount of coins when coins in one transaction are between 100 and 1000 XMG.
# Misc updates
1) PoS status update in wallet GUI; please be aware that "expected time to earn reward" is only an estimate.
2) Correction of the money supply shown in API calls: getinfo by reducing 720,000 XMG, which was burned (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9900074#msg9900074 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9900074#msg9900074)).

Help us to find the first block
Thanks!
Hello everybody.Awesome welcome in our great Magical community!
I just finished setting up an XMG pool with mpos. My first pool. ;D.
It seems to work, but I don't have enough hashpower to get any blocks yet. So I don't now if everything works as it should.
If anyone wont to try mining her I would appreciate it. :) If blocks is found and payment isn't working automatic, I will manually pay out.
The URL to the pool is http://www.xmg.cpucoinmining.com/ (http://www.xmg.cpucoinmining.com/).
Thanks
Yey new pools :) How much are they now? 8 ?Yes think there are 8 pools at the moment!
Maybe ex33s can add them in the overview?
Added http://www.xmg.cpucoinmining.com/MPOS/public/index.php and http://www.xpoolx.com/magindex.php to http://poolinfo.coinmagi.org/
If your pool is not on http://poolinfo.coinmagi.org/ you can send me the follow information
* Name of pool
* Url to pool
* Url to mpos statistics api, json formated.
* Url to logo
You can send it via PM here, or mail (Mail is at the bottom of poolinfo page).
Peace :)
Yes think we have to do that. Just would like to wait little time. Don't know why, its just a feeling!..
very cool logo @kondiomir, i have a question, do you have the same logo but animated? i mean something like slowly spinning around himself or something like that.Okey im staking now! thanks for the help 8)
you will not regret it ;)
btw should we remove cryptsy exchange from the OP?

I have updated the pools. Thanks.Congrats with your new job Joelao95.
I have a shift to a new job that makes me somehow put most concerns on things elsewhere, trying to make something happening.

More people should mine on xpoolx.com its a great pool with a great admin. iv been mining riecoin there for some time and have nothing but good experiences.
on the off chance you do run into problems the admin is easy to get in touch with and responds within a couple hours max if not in minutes. oh and no fees so that's a plus.
Hope Magi will receive more info about a game. Think Goldlabel is working on that. :)http://klyemax.com/ accepts XMG as payment option. It's an adult xxx webcam site, only accepting coins for payment. ;)
Thanks for sharing this. Things like these makes me want to spend more XMG in it. I would definitely take a look into it. Say, any chance of getting a game where you could spend and earn XMG at the same time? That would certainly be fun, but it is just a suggestion. ;D
That is wonderful, because I have many great ideas of a game that would sure be fun. I may not be a game designer but I do have some great creativity. How about making a mini game of Magi which would look similar to Flappy Birds? It would be called Flappy Magi and every time you make your coin fly over the pipes or obstacles, you get points just like Flappy Birds, but the difference is that you would be earning XMG by doing that. Earnings would be paid in satoshis or should I say Magoshi. ::)

He Abiky. I love the name Magoshi! Thats cool.
Maybe you could send Goldlabel a pm with your ideas!
He is very busy with his improvements of his website and game-clan (TheFruitsClan)
He will always read them and reply!
I think the idea is awesome..

But no worries I will check the forums and I hope to recover soon.
Sorry to hear of your troubles magic111, I hope you get well soon!

get well
Good thing you're asking questions when things are not clear. Always welcome. About the interest: interest will be paid on the balance you're wallet shows at 01-april-2016. So the more coins you have in your wallet on that day the higher the amount of Interest coins you will receive. I will bump the rules about the POI 3 campaign today so everybody can read that.As cryptos become more mainstream, coins like Magi will thrive with the general public and there will be fewer red candles.Think you are right amigo.
But it is almost funny that there is only 0.40 btc on the buy side at Poloniex :P
From a technical view the chart looked abysmal up to the second week of Dec 2015, but has made a pretty clear bottom and might improve soon.
I will start my promotion engine soon.
And history showed us that the price will raise in the last period of the Proof of Interest campaign.
That period will be come soon! POI ends 01-april-2016.
That is good to hear. About the proof of interest campaign, will the interest earned will be based on the balance you had at the beginning or will it be paid at the same ratio as others? Sorry for asking, just want to clarify some things about POI since I am a little confused ;D
Apart from that, I am still keeping an eye on Magi. It has been going pretty well over the past years and every day it becomes even stronger. The only thing is the price, but I guess none of that matters since it should be all about usability, great development and community. :D
Hello, guys!where did you stored your wallet.dat file , ? maybe someone has your wallet.dat file and stole your coins ?
Someone lock my wallet - setup password 11.02.2016 and move all my xmg to this wallet: 94knj9gHCWaCoeybotGqqDQHyXfFtqYjvb
Do you know anything about that ? I have antivirus and firewall at my pc and i never sit in internet directly - don't have white ip..
Can you help me somehow ?
Wallet.dat was at my pc.
btw all bitcoins lost too at the same time and date :) So strange. Around 0.1 btc and 10000 xmg was stolen and all wallets are locked now.
It's better to crypt all my data and ask money for keys.. Really can't understand.
It's time to remove windows and setup linux to my work and home pcs.

Happy Easter XMG pump!Looks nice!
Happy easter all!
I agree. Price has been doing real great for Magi. It was near $0.02 a while ago today so I guess it will be a very happy easter for the XMG community after all! Magi is doing real good. And I am still holding my XMG for the POI. :D
(http://www.hpsdesign.nl/images/xmg/proof2.png)Banks do give interest but not very much!
Tell me that you want to join the PoI here: http://bitcoingarden.tk/forum/index.php?topic=5721.msg103927#msg103927 Registration is done by posting your XMG address replying here on Bitcoingarden or PM me here or make a post here with MAgi wallet-address in your signature!
What information should I include? Write your participating wallet XMG address in a reply here: http://bitcoingarden.tk/forum/index.php?topic=5721.msg103927#msg103927 (only one address allowed to join, all addresses will be made public at the end of registration in interest of fairness of the campaign.)
There will be a limit set for the amount of people who can join the Proof of Interest. Max 150 people!
Remember the more coins you have in your wallet the higher the amount of coins you will receive by interest!(http://i.imgur.com/5h4slyw.jpg)
All payouts are done! If i missed somebody give me a pm and i will look into it!
Interest this time was 5.29%
Better than banks do!!! ;D
It seems I've been late, will it be another one?Their might be another one coming!
You are very welcome amigo!! :DAll payouts are done! If i missed somebody give me a pm and i will look into it!
Interest this time was 5.29%
Better than banks do!!! ;D
Much better! I got my share! I love you : )
First Proof of Interest campaign had a period of 3 months and gave 6% interest.No the interest rate is for the period the Proof of Interest campaign is active. Last one was 4 months.Here is the info amigo:...
There might be another Proof of Interest campaign.
But I need some feedback about the Proof of Interest campaign. Like why is it good for Magi to have a Proof of Interest campaign? What's the difference with other campaigns? (From other coins)
I need to receive some respons on that kind of questions to collect another fund for a new Proof of Interest campaign. Hope the Magi community can help me with that!
Can you briefly summarize what the proof of interest campaign is?
I like the coin and the fact that it focuses on helping "newer" people become knowledgeable about crypto, but that campaign has a gimmicky tone, unless I 'm wrong about it.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg14359787#msg14359787
Read is pls. There is no gimmicky tone on the Proof of Interest campaign. The main thing is the same Banks use. Hold or increase the balance and interest will be paid after a period.
If i'am correct PoI I 6% interest, PoI II 6% interest and PoI III 5.29% interest. There is no bank who will give you interest that high! :)
That interest rate is annual, right?
Wow, that's great! And what is the % of the POS II? I just can't figured it out :/
Second Proof of Interest campaign also 6%.
;D
New Magi wallet will arrive in two weeks!Awesome!
Launch date will follow!
It was long overdue... :o
Finally will get rid of "WARNING: Checkpoint is too old..." ;D
It seems I've been late, will it be another one?
More old Magi community members are joining us again. Magi will continue to grow!
How coincidental...I just popped in to see what's new & if I could lend my assistance. Magi is what initially fueled my love for crypto, so obviously it would be honorable to pay back such a debt :)
PS. hi to all my old XMG buddies - hope you guys are doing well (spexx still alive? LOL)
compared to before activity in this thread reduced by 95%
community was always the strong point of XMG
should i be worried?
and whats up with more infos regarding new wallet changelog and release?
DOTN WORRY, or you can. :)
Obviously though I posted and committed to a look at the wallet code a while ago, I lied :(, sorry, and just started to seriously look at the coin until this week or so. There was a (long) story I'd talk later on...
The first thing I'm about to conclude as of yet is that a quick-start wallet might not be the way (for now), unfortunately...
Magi loaded 45,1055 blocks in 381s, and PPC is 23,5092 blocks in 242s (so I took an example for comparison), both are nearly at the same speed. The following is where a lot time is consumed at start-up -- all just read blocks from the disk; nothing else checking is done though:
https://github.com/magi-project/magi/blob/master/src/db.cpp#L797
I am aware that DMD has sort modified this section as you mentioned, and it appears there is a change in the blockchain from my quick look at this time. I'll look further then...
In my general sense regarding changes to a quick start-up, I tend to be conservative, though, as I said, I'll take a close look before a definite conclusion is made...
In contrast to above, I'm more concerned with the PoW & PoS with some really urgent works to be done, however each parts will just swallow a loooooooot time...
Obviously a new wallet is planned, but don't expect too much. There was a huge blank gap already filled in-between the last update and what the Magi is now. All just require time to be taken...
Awesome Joe. Welcome back!
It's always good to be fair about your situation.
That is also possible in our great community.
I think the community is also very happy you started to work on updates now. I can understand that some people are little worried about you're activity.
Thats why it's very good you are back and posting in our main Magi thread.
Updating step by step is good.
Keep informing our loyal Magi community members!
And let's continue on the great future of Magi.
Great news! If MAGI needs support from the community for whatsoever activity (example, voting on exchanges or other sites) just let us know!
I just got synced but my wallet has the error:
WARNING: Checkpoint is too old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify developers.
"version": "v1.2.3.1-magi",
"protocolversion": 71041,
"walletversion": 60000,
"balance": 0,
"newmint": 0,
"stake": 0,
"blocks": 815670,
This wasn't an error but a warning that will be fixed.
Somebody can make a nice picture for Magi with android miner in it?

Hello, XMG has an androind wallet too?
Appears a strong correlation between XMG and BTC price. :D
Sorry for long delay. I'm working on it heavily since most recently; spent much more time on looking around before hands-on, and trying to get done what'd be asked; will have some posted out I guess. In either way, no ETA and details to be done, that would put me under pressure. :(Will it include COMPLETE binaries set, not only the part of it like today?Yes, that's for sure.
No problem Joe. Take your time in developing a new fresh wallet for XMG. As long as it remains usable, and stable enough to keep it staking, it shouldn't be an issue. I've been a little away from crypto, but I could say that things are going well for the crypto world. Usually when BTC price goes up, other alt coins follow but XMG has remained stable (except that the price has plummeted a little recently) which make it good for investing. :)
We're going to migrate to LevelDB for block index storing and retrieval. This will speed up the wallet significantly.
https://github.com/magi-project/magi/tree/1.3-exp
1.3-exp contains coarse codes integrated as of yet; it's NOT ready. This is obviously very experimental at this time and yet proves clearance of bugs, that you might not want to try, though I've compiled a wallet currently downloading block chain and going through details. If one is interested, please DO NOT use it in your regular way: don't run it with your old wallet.dat in the directory, and mine or do any other transactions. You'd better to move everything (prior block data + wallet.dat) to elsewhere before launch this experimental wallet. Use your cautions.
So, this is a simple update; I'm posting in case one could help. What I did to spend time on this issue is less urgent compared to other issues; well, I seemed to be in the middle of something; the truth is that there are many stuffs that need to done; tried to get a little step before going into my work. What I intended in the past was to integrate the latest code base. This is mostly a crazy idea for an individual to handle the whole open-source code base.
At this point, it seems a time for me to cover some more. Magi is nearly two years, but we have almost a dev-blank in 2015 and beginning of 2016. All came to stuffs of mine, job-changing-relocation-settle-down, so about a life change.
No ETA until I'm done; reason is that I've to take care of my work well without burning in this crypto land; and uncertainties in coding and testing.
An opinion to magi if you'd ask me, I'd keep it going and that seems my only interest in this crypto, no investment in BTC or any things else at all as I do lose my trusts on some things so called people claimed from time to time, you saw that, went through that, and got your judgement; certainly I am interested to the techs, with freedoms to compose, to tackle the tough. If you'd ask me the plans, I do have many, but I'd refrain to talk much before some thing else are actually done. I provided a few thoughts nearly a year before one can check hundred of pages back, absolutely those I'd carry on. Let's see.
...
I know that Joe is working very hard to give us the best Magi wallet yet! It will probably take some time, but at the end it will be really worth it. :D
Thanks; I hope so. :) I guess I've done the major changes which are supposed to be done in this update, so I'll make a set of RC version of binaries compiled and available in the following days as possible as I can. The major changes are the much fast wallet, PoS with merging stakes along with a splitting threshold setup (these should really be done long long ago, anyway ..). More details will be covered when I post the binaries.
As I got works at weekdays, best time would be weekend. However, I'd accomplish compiling at a couple of OS, plus some stuffs like preparing block chain data, and things which may come up near the end; there would be any chance of delay.

Keep your coins save on Magi's paperwallet!!
Looks pretty neat. I was looking all the way over for this. Makes it pretty handy to buy cheap Magi and then store then into this nifty paper wallet for future use. Prices have been declining over these last days for XMG, but I guess it can only mean the best opportunity to grab more cheap coins before the Proof of Interest 4 starts!

(http://hpsdesign.nl/images/xmg/hero.jpg)Great picture goldlabel! Hope you are well.
Im doing great starmman, thx ;DAwesome Goldlabel and Congrats with your birthday!
// The original design prevents stakes having the same parent transaction from combining
// which somehow reads as encouraging splitting (improve security);
// This mechanism is to be disabled in Magi since combining won't cause security concern
/* Splitting is only enforced at wallet, not by PoS protocol as well as consensus over network.
* Original PPCoin design encourages splitting as per "Lower coinstake combine threshold to
* improve security", which can be understood by the fact that in general PoS, with a large
* number of coins in stake comes greater chance of (PoS) mining blocks. This is not going to
* happen in Magi. Also, hardening nStakeCombineThreshold is impractical since an advanced user
* can easilly make a change to that and rebuild a wallet. The change to nStakeCombineThreshold
* should be available externally, e.g., RPC command, magi.conf configuration file.
** Magi, for optimum staking, nStakeCombineThreshold should be used in combination with nStakeSplitThreshold.*/
You should use nStakeCombineThreshold along with nStakeSplitThreshold for best results. The optimum threshold is neither a random number nor as large as possible; it should be an appropriate value, say 500 XMG, according to MAGI's PoS protocol. What's the NEXT?
Without having concerns of utilizing my time and worries from some real pains, I would pursue the following plans.
Of course, the past talks should not be in vain. I need to pick up where I left.
Some quick lookup brings up:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg12153220#msg12153220
My vision on the future:
# v1.4 or v1.5:
The significantly important step towards this coin's life - making MAGI "m-" (mobile) mineable, or to get rid of big miners (I know some people hate what I said, or believe MAGI is doomed to fail in this line). Basically, a likely success could be achieved by going through all of the followings:
* A very sharp difficulty adjustment algorithm
* PoW algo (I am very skeptical now)
* Bridging the PoW and PoS: mining encouraging phase and aggressive mining phase (TBD).
* Revisiting PoS-II; I'd name the new PoS protocol as "mPoS" (no big change, sort of improvemets). How mPoS is advantageous over the other PoS mechanisms is to be determined.
I need significant amount of time to research the feasibility and implementation. Okay, I am originally a research guy, so I'd push out some writings that will make us clear of what we are doing, fine? in a reasonable way, good enough, anything else? things like that. Frankly, I am still picking up the block chain and in the process of get a real feeling of HOW people believe the block chain thing is something a huge invention. I got to be into it.
# v1.6: Merging on latest bitcoin code base.
# v1.7: Greatly improved GUI interface with MAGI's own features; e.g., the PoW & PoS mining in the same wallet
# v1.8: Standing on the solid implementation of monetary system and staking, I intend to pursue developing blockchain applications; something for reals, and get new techs into the coin or blockchain.
And we'd put into thoughts on what happens and approaches to be taken once PoW is done. Obviously, PoS is the one we have, need something else.
In any cases, right now these are just talk-talk ideas. You should not commit until you see they come to true.
Anyway. Let's see.
This is another milestone of development for XMG! Congratulation Dev Joe, it's normal to have problem with compilation to different system I think, and I'm sure you will fix it soon. For a meantime, let marketing and promotion do it's job. Let us spread the news XMG people!!!

Hey guys,
Don't forget we have got a range of offers on when ordering with Coin Magi!!
Thanks for your support guys
Looks interesting, when my current hosting contract comes to an end next year I'll bear you in mind and take a look at your services in more detail. I might have enough Magi accumulated by then to start using it for payments as well as accumulation.
Thanks.
If anyone wants to trial our services we are happy to set up some trial account with 2 months free hosting.
I decided to take the plunge and use the new client on my main wallet today. I'll give that a go once the network has fininshed syncing. I added all the hosts to the magi.conf but still taking forever to find new hosts. I will see if it has found any more tomorrow.
Here are the two nodes I have on my servers:Code: [Select]addnode=104.128.225.215

Thanks Joe, I'll add them to my wallet configuration and see if that increases the number of connections. Its strange how slowly the new wallet find new connections compared to the old one.
Looking forward to the release version. No pressure though, take your time

hey everyone just posted about XMG here https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@whitezombie/xmg-coin-magi-pow-posI like this! Nice work amigo, i really appreciate activity from the awesome Magi community!
I'm still getting the hang of the whole blogging thing so it's not much but it's there anyway. come tell me what you think.
Ok. In the mean time Magi has green light for the new Proof of Interest campaign IV. I will post the rules and dates soon. Register will be open at Magi's second birthday! (15-sept'2016)We did drop to around 2300 overnight, but rebounded to around 2700. The fact it was overnight is a interesting twist too, as most price movements I have observed have previously been in European hours. Looks like Magi is spreading!Looks like there is finally some volatility on the markets this evening. Big sell wall has been built at 3500 and some sell off down to 2600, lets see if the price rebounds or drops to the 2300 buy wall...Thats good to know. Thanks for the update.
There might be some buyers waiting for little price drop! :)
The market is going crazy today, we've gone from a price of 2307 up to 4242 in just a few hours. Lots of trading going on =) I love days like this. Missed out on some of the trading but managed to get a few buys and sells in the middle of the bull/bear push. =)Looks like Magi (XMG) receives lots of attention at the moment.
What about creating a Telegram group for Magi?

Very similar to whatsapp, but with much more many features. First to introduce p2p cryptography.
It is open source, multi-platform (pc, android, mac, iphone, etc), you can run multiple instance of it on different devices, no phone number required, there's a programming language to create bots... and a lot of other cool things.
Using it is very intuitive, there's not very much to study...
Very nice all.so well to ride with this project im monitoring the coin movement from polo and trex, will hold more just saving enough btc.https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/magiYeah, the market is looking great today - managed to get quite a few buys and sells in so far today. Would be great to see the market cap stabalise at 200k. Only a few months ago we were looking at 50k
Magi is doing awesome. Maybe Magi will hit a marketcap from $200.000,-
That would be Super! :)
Good cryptos are long term projects, nothing happen in day. Way to go. I'm very glad to be part of this community.Thanks Secco thats really nice to hear!
Price is stable during a longer period. The ups are most time during the weekend and the downs are most time days after the weekend.https://twitter.com/Coin_Magi_XMG/status/789773555609300993Awesome, I'll take a look at that next week, the last version was crashing on me quite often. Great increase in magi price today - currently trading at around 6200. Wonder if it will hold or drop back down to the 5000 support again. Whoever bought at that price didn't add in a support below it so the price will probably dip again. Lets see what happens today!

Double prices are paid!
Congrats to the winners!
The unique Proof of Interest campaign IV is completed.
I will calculate the interest and will send interest rates (XMG) to the people who joined this great campaign.
And followed the campaign rules!

Hmm Yefet ::)
To keep it fair for all people i need to check the balances.
If you have spread it between more addresses i can accept it if you send it to the wallet-address you gave for joining the Proof of Interest campaign. If thats ok with you let me know.

OK, you may check the balances and tx for both addresses,
I didn't spread the coins between two addresses, as far as I understand it happened that when I sent 470 XMG to the POSwallet (https://poswallet.com/) the change (1000 XMG) returned to another address :-[

The latest code v1.3.1 is live on the master branch [https://github.com/magi-project/magi (https://github.com/magi-project/magi)]. The Qt was tweaked the most and all prior issues were fixed. Remaining issues are likely broken daemon compilation at this moment, and a bit more tweaks for OSX too; I'll fix.Great stuff, looking forward to seeing the new client - I might run a windows build over the weekend when I get back to the country.
If you can't wait for official compiled wallet, pls do so of compilation on your own. We're using LevelDB; if you're upgrading from version prior to v1.3.0, pls sync from scratch, or download (a while ago): http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain (http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain).
Great. Thanks for the update, Joe! It's been quite some time since I left out of buying and staking Magi, since I have been very busy with things like college, among other stuff, but I would gladly get back into Magi soon as it is one of the best altcoin out there.
Hopefully, with the release of the new QT wallet, Magi could get even more attention and increase in price. I wish that Magi could reach $0.05 USD or higher this year.
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward for more exciting news like these. ;)
By the way, do you happen to know how do I compile the Magi wallet for Raspberry Pi 3? I'm trying to figure it out, but haven't gone anywhere as I'm not very tech savvy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
Glad to see you again. It's been some time for me on the work stuffs as well. :) I'm not yet into Raspberry, but someone did a guide as I remember. I'll try to find it out. Also I'm interested to get a Pi like for staking; either way I'll figure out a guide.

WOOT WOOT, just got my Proof of Interest. Thank you!
Hey guys, I see several questions in the last few pages here and thought I'd try to help out a little. First, cryptonit's post a page back explains most everything needed, here's a direct link:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg17764471#msg17764471
Second - many wallets show up with false positives for malware scans. Here's a direct link to Virus Totals latest scan results of the wallet:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/da02dcf645121778640e90f817a0ef161e3304f30ff3230100ab1fe14e4bb363/analysis/1486619948/
That's clean as far as I'm concerned and the Chinese 360 antivirus software has been labeled as malware before so I wouldn't trust it myself.
Third - the current wallet does have a 'warning' at the bottom that says it's a pre-release test build... we know this, it works fine and Joe is currently working on a new version that will remove the warning, just have a little more patience.
A few pointers from my experience - my wallet stakes daily with no issues.
1 Sync the wallet with a new empty wallet.dat file - this will go quicker and without errors.
2 After it is sync'd, swap out the dat file with your wallet that has your coins and it will quickly begin staking.
3 A good rule for block size is to keep your stacks around 1000 - 2500 coins each and you will stake on average once per day per stack. Use coin control to achieve this.
4 Use the conf file to automatically maintain the block sizes for you.
If you have a block of coins with more than 10,000 confirmations, or more than approximately 5 days without staking - it's already losing weight and might not ever stake, resend them back to yourself and start the timer over again. Tiny amounts of coins (or what we call Dust) also may never stake, combine those into larger blocks.
Those of you with blocks of coins above 10k or 15k, if they don't stake within a day, they won't and you should split them up into smaller groups - that's been my experience anyway.
Once you are sync'd, use the magi.conf to automatically manage your wallet and block sizes for you. There's several methods for doing this, here's is mine - it will automatically keep your block sizes between 800 - 2200 coins and those will stake on average once every day.
magi.conf
# Transaction under stake with a value greater than the threshold is being splitted
stakesplitthreshold=2200
# Transactions with values less than the threshold will combine into one
stakecombinethreshold=800
addnode=104.128.225.215
addnode=104.131.42.100
Hope that helps.
edit: Also what Jookly said a couple posts above about using coin control - learn how to use it to get the most out of staking and preserving your coin age.... A few more notes based on my experience:
Staking blocks above 5000 coins is hit or miss.
Sweet spot I've seen is 1500 - 2000 coins per block - it pretty much stakes once every day.
When combining coins into larger blocks - limit the transaction to about 25 blocks per transaction, more than that will be slower. Repeat until you finally get to the block sizes you want. if you've never done this, you might have thousands of blocks of 'dust' that need to be combined and it will take a while, but once you are done and have the magi.conf in place, it will be automagic from that point on. The wallet will also be faster once you clean up thousands of smaller blocks.
If you did have thousands of blocks of dust, consider re-sending all to a brand new wallet - just compare the size of your old wallet to a brand new wallet and you'll see what I mean.
If you haven't staked for more than 10 days - resend the coins back to yourself to restart the timer because I'm pretty sure it will never stake at that point.
Larger block sizes (more than 10k) should stake within the day, and I think they start losing weight quickly.
If you are also mining, don't forget to combine those small blocks into larger blocks as well.
Backup your wallet NOW. And make multiple backups, in multiple locations, trust me on this lol.
Hi, I bought 62K XMG yesterday.
I compile wallet from github source by myself for my Ubuntu staking machine. I ran it for Solarcoin, IOcoin for 2 years.
When I first open wallet for staking, my weight was 20 and wallet said that it will take 20 days for staking.
Today, I found that staking was off due to lack of my weight.
"Not staking because you don't have enough weight" - message.
If anyone have working magi.conf for smooth staking, plz up. :)Code: [Select]server=1
daemon=1
listen=1
rpcuser=longrpcsolousername
rpcpassword=longrpcsolopassword
rpcport=8232
port=8233
posii=1
stakesplitthreshold=80
stakecombinethreshold=100
addnode=104.128.225.215
addnode=104.131.42.100
That's my magi.conf.
You should wait a bit with opened and unlocked wallet in order to gain staking weight.
Yes, I've been on the exchanges this morning - its been quite a busy one, market cap and price are rising very nicely - the market cap has hit $200k again (for only the 3rd time) today
Yeah. Coin Magi's price is having a nice movement in price these days, which it may be a sign that it is getting even more attention than ever. Now it is around the $0.03 USD mark and it may continue to rise if more people join in this exciting cryptocurrency project.
I was going to buy a few Magi myself when they were worth $0.02, but I guess that I'm too late to get them at said prices. Even at today's prices, I consider Magi being cheap, as the development and community it has, as well as having a unique mining algorithm, would've made the coin much more valuable right now.
One of the things, that I admire about Magi is that it promotes low energy consumption in its mining process, as the lower the network hashrate, the bigger the reward which makes it one of the eco-friendliest PoW coins out there.
Nevertheless, I hope that this year would bring many surprises for Magi, making it a cryptocurrency to be held onto for the long term. :)

* Struggled with a working Qt wallet for Windows XP (daemon works); this effort is yet to be done. Since Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, I'm considering to drop off the compilation; please let me if one does need a Qt wallet for Windows XP.
Changelog:
v1.3.1
=============
This is a major release designed to improve the overall performance of the wallet. Upgrading to this version is strongly recommended. All parties upgrading from versions prior to v1.3.0 should resynchronize the complete block chain from the beginning.
A copy of block chain available: http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/
- Support of building Qt wallet and daemon on FreeBSD;

Notes:
* Since v1.3.1 migrates to leveldb for block index storing, for upgrading from a version before v1.3 should reset the local block-chain;
* For users on Windows, we provide a convenient way to use an installer for upgrading wallet and migrating to the latest block chain; this is strongly recommended;
* Additional note to the stake splitting & combing for information; https://github.com/magi-project/magi/blob/1.3.0rc/src/wallet.cpp#L1595Code: [Select]// The original design prevents stakes having the same parent transaction from combining
nStakeCombineThreshold along with nStakeSplitThreshold should be utilized for best results. The optimum threshold is neither a random number nor as large as possible; it's in accordance with the magi's PoS (mPoS) protocol.
// which somehow reads as encouraging splitting (improve security);
Upgrading procedure:
- In general:
1) Backup wallet.dat;
2) Delete everything under the Magi or .magi folder except wallet.dat;
3) Download block chain from here http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/ (http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/) and unzip the file;
4) Put all of the contents under the folder m-blockchain into Magi or .magi;
5) Launch the new wallet.
- Windows:
1) Backup wallet.dat;
2) Launch the installer;
3) Choose the option you want to migrate the block-chain; the installer will always move the original Magi folder to something like Magi-BACKUP-*;
4) Follow on-screen prompts to install.(http://coinmagi.org/misc/images/misc/m-wallet-windows-installer_20170210.png)(One can also use the installer to update/switch block-chain data. We will update the block-chain from time to time)
If you run into issues with the binaries / installer, let me know ASAP. I'll try to solve the issues in a timely manner.
Finally, please help to spread the words. We need have all of the services, mining pools and exchanges to switch to v1.3.1. Also, I recommend updating logo to v2 (http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v2).
@starmman, we can talk about roadmap now; in what form you'd do a roadmap?

* Starting from v1.3.1, we provide official support of building packages for FreeBSD; both Qt wallet and daemon are available. Supports to other platforms may also occur in future release;
* Struggled with a working Qt wallet for Windows XP (daemon works); this effort is yet to be done. Since Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, I'm considering to drop off the compilation; please let me if one does need a Qt wallet for Windows XP.

Without formal announcement, I'd mention briefly three major works. The first item should be done in this year 2017.
1. It won't be done without a hard fork, and it will be a major one.
* Optimization on the difficulty adjustment algorithm that expects a fast response to the network hashrate
* Adjustment of PoW algo
* Establish a channel between PoW and PoS
* PoS-II to "mPoS".
The above are four optional areas of improvements, each or all of which should (successfully) lead to support of efficient mining by the low-end devices (except the last one that's PoS).
2. Migrating and combining with the latest bitcoin code base, which, I guess, is yet existed in PoS coins; I believe this way would move the coin much better and strong.
3. Continue / improve Magi's payment gateway: m-epays; it's not our intention to invent a payment gateway, but a way to speed the coin to be accepted and used.
A more detailed roadmap will be announced in the OP and our website in following weeks. The site is currently been worked on. Details are to be announced.
Also, I intend to bring the forum m-talk.org into a good shape, however, I barely have the time and also web skills. If anyone is willing to assist or take this job, drop me a message.
Since we had a slack channel (https://coinmagi.slack.com/), if anyone want to joint, send me your email address; I'll send out invitations:

Any plan to add some anon features on magi?Good thing you posted here Secco. I really need to update our awesome Magi thread here. At the moment the new wallets are running smoothly. Dev Joe is working on much more developments. I hope there will be a release soon.
Has our awesome Goldlabel did something with those already. If not pls Goldlabel could you take a look at these logo's.While this sounds secondary, I'd post preliminary switch of logo to a new version (blue the primary) for clarity and simplicity:
(http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v2/magi-blue_512x512.png)
(http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v2/magi-green_512x512.png)
I propose in all of the situations where logos are used a switch should be done. Pls help to spread the words.
Here is a link to png files: http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v2/ (http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v2/), where you can also find the .svg. You're very welcome to improve / design logos.
@goldlabel, initial logo pngs will be remained here: http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v1/ (http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v1/)
Give a hand on spreading the new logo if you can (I suppose it would be the favor of the most) (pool, exchange, etc). This would be sort of marketing and get us standing out. We'll follow up this change as well.
Magi is working on new simple logo. Above are concepts.
Everybody who likes to make it better or has good ideas is very welcome
Hi all,
Did a little Sunday project and it's was all about to visualize where all the peers connected to http://poolinfo.systms.org where coming from.
(http://i.imgur.com/Q2JVLJG.png)
Did it out of curiosity to who I'm connected to. I know there's still kinks in the map to sort out like some markers are stacked exactly on-top of each other.
I've left out the ip-address of the peers connected on purpose.
The data on the site updates once every minute.
Link: https://poolinfo.systms.org/map/
Hope you guys like it!

Once this is done, remaining the wallet running shall gains some staking weights.

I'm pretty surprised for that. Magi is a project with a lot of unique features and innovations, very weird decision from polo, so far they always looked at the quality of the projects rather than at trading volume like most other exchange are doing : /Yes they did in the past. We hope to receive a reply on our support request. In the mean time Magi will continue with new developments and improvements.
Just read this, sad story.Hmm ok thanks ex33s for sharing this. In the mean time i would like to receive some feedback about new fair exchanges. I'am happy Magi has still 3 exchanges Bittrex, Cryptopia & Nova exchange) but i would like to have a little more.

Every idea or action on this is very welcome.
I would just stay away from YoBit... I'm not sure what's going up there... but I don't feel comfortable keeping my coins there...Thanks for your post.

Not sure how to join - is it invite only?
not only invite and you will have to fully participate in this game and for joining you can consult DEV. :-\
Need to find out how things work there. :)
You can use this shared invite found in the OP - https://coinmagi.slack.com/shared_invite/MTgwNTE3MDg3MDg4LTE0OTQzNzgwNTQtYjg4ZDYyNjFkNg
With that you will be able to join us on slack :)
Hey guys, like I said in previous post I lost track of crypto and Magi.
Can you pls tell me if the sweetspot is still going on? (is it updating to current block situation)
What is the latest wallet version? (I downloaded v1.3.1.0 version and syncing...it gon take forever but hey... ;)
Hi z0n0,
Check this:

Update procedure:
1) Backup wallet.dat to a safe place;
2) Delete everything under the Magi or .magi folder except wallet.dat;
3) Download block chain from here http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/ (http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/) and unzip the fille;
4) Unzip all of the stuffs under the folder m-blockchain into Magi or .magi;
5) Start up the new wallet
I think when you do step 3 it wont take forever to sync.
Here is a recent version: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg17799521#msg17799521. The installer is an easy way to install and download blockchain on Windows.
Hi Joe,
I want to say well done on the slick wallet install.
I had a problem with and old wallet taking ages to load.
Very impressed and shows maturity that will helps this coin grow and grow!
Well done and good luck!
Thanks. We'll bring up further improvements; I believe that would bring us into a perfect shape once done.

Multiple Platforms:
* Starting from v1.3.1, we provide official support of building packages for FreeBSD; both Qt wallet and daemon are available. Supports to other platforms may also occur in future release;
* Struggled with a working Qt wallet for Windows XP (daemon works); this effort is yet to be done. Since Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, I'm considering to drop off the compilation; please let me if one does need a Qt wallet for Windows XP.
Changelog:
v1.3.1
=============
- Support of building Qt wallet and daemon on FreeBSD;
- Added "Mint" menu on the Qt wallet;
- Added "About" menu on the Qt wallet;
- Fixed price update for all of OS including Windows;
- Corrected the total amount on the transaction page;
- Overall improvement of the Qt wallet appearance;
- Removed pre-release message from the status bar;
- Redesigned the icon set; new logo available here: http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v1; previous version: http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v2;
(January 29, 2017)
This release also contains the prior changes associated with v1.3.0rc1 which wasn't made publicly.
v1.3.0rc1
=============
- Changed database for storing transaction and block indices from Berkeley DB to LevelDB;
- Enabled block hash storing in storage and loaded directly from disk;
- Fixed "Checkpoint is too old" warning;
- PoS stake splitting and combining features, which can be set by stakesplitthreshold=VALUE and stakecombinethreshold VALUE in magi.conf, or by RPC commands: setstakesplitthreshold and setstakecombinethreshold; RPC commands getstakesplitthreshold and getstakecombinethreshold to show their current values;
- Added price information on Qt overviewpage;
- Qt wallet logo change and GUI improvements;
- Merge pull request of adding total balance in "Transactions" page by lightsplasher;
- Merge pull request of version check updates by feldenthorne; fixed automatic version check including test/rc versions.
(June 22, 2016)
Notes:
* Since v1.3.1 migrates to leveldb for block index storing, for upgrading from a version before v1.3 should reset the local block-chain;
* For users on Windows, we provide a convenient way to use an installer for upgrading wallet and migrating to the latest block chain; this is strongly recommended;
// which somehow reads as encouraging splitting (improve security);
Upgrading procedure:
- In general:
1) Backup wallet.dat;
2) Delete everything under the Magi or .magi folder except wallet.dat;
3) Download block chain from here http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/ (http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/) and unzip the file;
4) Put all of the contents under the folder m-blockchain into Magi or .magi;
5) Launch the new wallet.
- Windows:
1) Backup wallet.dat;
2) Launch the installer;
3) Choose the option you want to migrate the block-chain; the installer will always move the original Magi folder to something like Magi-BACKUP-*;
Also, I recommend updating logo to v2 (http://coinmagi.org/files/logo/v2).
its impossible to speculate long term but if you believe the project has potential then hold and let it grow.I agree with those words. Magi is a long-term currency.

Thanks Mozsi for you reply.It will come in time Hefty.
Btw the total amount of sell is almost equal as the buy amount. What will happen if the buy amount will be higher? Mean on Bittrex.
Supply vs demand. My experience tells me that when buy orders get higher than sell orders as you said, price goes up.
About Yobit maybe it will become better with Magi there.
I'am always carefull with the exchanges, lets say i learned from Cryptsy!
Paul Vernon :D
There is nothing that can hold Magi back :) when some ppl that waited this moment last few years and are insecure sell everything they have in next few days demand will get 2xhigher magi is at 7mil now good thing devs listened to community in beginning and lower maximum xmg from 40 to 21mil, 70% of magi community wont sell in near future, people will fight for every XMG on exchange very soon. Price can only go up :)
As for exchange i trust bittrex they even keep all my coins that they relisted years ago so i can recover them at any time, Cryptopia is also great.
I am going to catch some sleep , see you later guys :)
Thats right Starmman. I also use Yobit and had no bad experience there yet. So i'am happy with itThanks Mozsi for you reply.It will come in time Hefty.

Yobit is a bit of a double-edged sword, they are bad for support and very bad for upgrading wallets after a hard fork and general wallet maintenance, and sometimes do some pretty dodgy stuff - however a lot of supply on there can really drive up volume and price. I tend to class it as a riskier asset - but still invest in there albeit less than the other exchanges. It has been around for a few years and they didn't run off with everybodies money yet.
1000 XMG is a huge reward with the value at this moment!

Yup, I have already seen that topic, and all the links are dead.
So, I don't know are the devs still around to post new ones, or maybe work on some new, optimized miners. Currently everything about mining is very confusing.
My G3450T currently mining around 30mh, which is good. I will see till end of the day how much I mined, then I will calculate it and see if there is profit when you mine with such a low end CPU, and if there is, I will recommend to other miners I know to mine Magi.
i will re upload all spexx miners i have, wait for few mins

WOW, what an amazing news :)
On a old hard-drive i found some wallets from other crypto-coins.
Iám checking if there are still some coins in there.
Is it correct if i launch the wallets and start sync them the balance should show during the sync period of should the wallet show the balance directly?

Thank you for the answer deztroyr1!
I'm not trying to do a moneybench here. I use the Xeon usually for other stuff of course... I am a scientist and usually I do simulations of atomic nuclei, if you're curious, so let's say that I got them for free. But ATM I don't have the time to lunch other simulations since I'm busy writing/reading/vacationing... so my hardware sits in idle...
I do not do it for the money either... I mainly do it to understand the hashing, the performance/compilation, the blockchain and cryptocurrency economy from the scientific perspective, and how it has evolved in this years so to speak.
So from the purely performance point of view my
two E5-2630v4, 10 core HT 2.2GHz, 3.1GHz turbo, and 25 MB cache each with DDR4 2666GHz should pulverize a
i5-6600 3.30 GHz, turbo 3.90 GHz, with DDR3 1666GHz or similar, and 6MB cache as it happens for physics simulations...
Unless hashing algo is severly single core.
If that's the case, running two workers should give me a factor two improvement on my dual socket (?), and running 40 threads should give me not much improvements, that's not what currently happens.
even if scaling is not linear there is definetely some scaling, while running two workers instead of one decreases the performances.
I can try some tests. Do you have some guidance or guide to link me to?
He mozsi you have the XMG sign here: ∑
How do you get that one?

But i noticed a tweet and quoted it with my Twitter account (@coin_magi_xmg)
Its about a young Dutch hockey-team collecting as much likes they can on this Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/HVADames1Likeactie/
If they achieve that without paid promotions they can win a nice sponsorship.
So in that way it has some similarities with our awesome & friendly Magi community.

We updated the wallet version to v1.4 to enable a fix to the splitting. I'll give more description regarding the fix. There is splitting around block 1443980; it wasn't confirmed that is necessary a fork from pool, as the inconsistent block is a PoS block based on a comparison of two chains available. Given that, the fix is to start from that point. Procedure to startup on a clean chain:Awesome & fast job Joe. Well done
1) Download the wallet v1.4.0 (will push other versions into that):
http://coinmagi.org/bin/m-wallet-1.4.0/ (http://coinmagi.org/bin/m-wallet-1.4.0/)
2) Backup wallet.dat;
3) The prior blockdata must be removed before launching the new wallet:
Remove everything under the Magi or .magi folder except for wallet.dat:
Windows: %appdata%\Magi
Linux: ~/.magi
4) If you wish to redownload blockchain from scratch, skip to 5)
5) Download block chain from:
http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/
and unzip the file;
6) Place all of the contents under "m-blockchain" into Magi or .magi;
7) Launch the new wallet.

Thanks amigo. Magi team request the exchanges to add the comment "maintenance " on the Magi wallets. They will be active again after the release of new wallets & improvements.
Hello dear developers. on exchanges novaexchange yobit bittrex wallets magicoin not working. I hope that this will improve. Good luck to you.
Main net update:
Updated the main source code (v1.4.3.1):
1) fix sync issue
2) protocol ver 71062
https://github.com/magi-project/magi
Protocol ver 71062 will get us to where once we get on the latest revisions, we'll disconnect all prior versions. Pls update to this version. I'm compiling binaries and will post links once available.
Here are binaries for v1.4.3.1:
http://coinmagi.org/bin/m-wallet-1.4.3.1/ (http://coinmagi.org/bin/m-wallet-1.4.3.1/)
The plan of merging fixes, that is v1.4.4:
1) Get another test wallet tomorrow
2) On Wednesday, 9/13, v1.4.4 source code finalizing; depending on how much time to compile the complete set of binaries as well as documentation, we might be able to make post until 9/14
The difficulty adjustment gets little tricky since we're disturbing the way blocks are accepted by enforcing block checking. The thing is that what happens to PoW difficulty that is adjusted based on block time will make corresponding influence on the block value, that's the center of the question.
This coin is traded now in bittrex. ThanksYes but Magi wallets on Bittrex are on maintenance. So trading is possible. Withdraw or deposits not yet.
We have had the updates in place. We are ready to get the fix on the main chain rolling and hence the new wallet.Great job Joe! Will look forward to new releases.
v1.4.4
The follow changes were made with hard forks scheduled to take effect:
0. Sync checkpoint & master server: currently rebuilding blockchain
1. PoW & PoS checking starting at 1481500 (around this Friday night EST)
2. Difficulty adjustment starting at 1482000 (around this Saturday morning EST)
3. Protocol version: 71062, prior version to 71062 shall be disconnected
4. End maintenance mode height: 1481500 (PoW / PoS block reward back to normal)
We'll make the full list of binaries release Thursday night.
Pls shutdown the test wallet.
Pls make sure you're running v1.4.3.1 at this moment (http://coinmagi.org/bin/m-wallet-1.4.3.1/ (http://coinmagi.org/bin/m-wallet-1.4.3.1/)).

v1.4.4.1
=============
This release solves the recent blockchain forking issue, including the follow changes:
- Synchronizing checkpoint & master server introduced; this is to remove constantly checking on the misbehaving and IP banning, along with the error "block with too little proof-of-stake or proof-of-work". The checkpoint master server and keys remain to be used from now on; they are likely to be removed in the future;
- Implemented a block generation rule: PoW / PoS blocks are mined / minted by following a pattern: 1) at least two PoS blocks minted between two consecutive PoW blocks, or PoW blocks generated every 10 minutes; 2) at least one PoW block is found in five consecutive PoS blocks, or PoS blocks generated every 3 minutes;
- Difficulty adjustment will be changed to four-block exponential moving average. When there is violation in aforementioned PoW / PoS generation rule, the difficulty remains unchanged.
The following hard forks are scheduled to implement the changes:
- block 1481500: PoW / PoS block generation rule, and also exit point of the maintenance mode;
- block 1482000: difficulty adjustment algorithm switch.

Once this is done, remaining the wallet running shall gains some staking weights.

I think it would be very good for the future of Magi if we can get more attention for Magi to the growing crypto-workd. Because of the huge attention BTC receives at this moment more and more people are starting with Crypto.
New campaigns, articles and other things are needed for that. But not all things are free in Crypto-world. Personal i donated more than 100k xmg for promotions & campaigns. I hope our awesome Magi community would help with some crowdfunding to achieve new campaigns & promotions. Like a cool give-away or something else.
If you like to support Magi check the btc address in my profile or the xmg address in my signature.
Because i'am promoting Magi for more than 3 years now,
i dare to ask this. Thanks for reading!
Hey, I'll see if I can get something together over the next few days, I'm still not a massive holder - but every little helps right?
EDIT - should be some Magi on its way to you now...
To All,Awesome Joe thanks for the info!💪
We got an issue few days ago, and here I'd make quick overview:
1) I'm getting to a point for an internal test of the fix (tomorrow night); I appreciated those who have helped MAGI on this incident. In case one wish to test or review changes, you can come to Slack; find 111magic (coin_magi_xmg) / ex33s / me there.
This incident has been observed as being related to the Pow / PoS rule in combination with the fact that 2-hour future blocks allowed as in the original design. Addition to this, the new block rule disturbs the difficulty, and this feature of uncertainty seems yet to get around. In observation of the Pow / PoS rule actually not being a major factor fixing the prior chain forking issue, I'd go (temporarily to go permanent upon no upcoming concerns) disable it. In the meantime, we will do a reduction of time drift for the blocks.
2) We try to make a release of the fix within this week. My expectation is that the fix would be like changes implemented such a way that a hard fork is required. Chain downtime or rollback will be avoided as much as possible, and actually I don't see those are necessary. Except for a need of the hard fork to get mining back to normal, this incident seems no influence on things like sending / receiving. Let me know if I missed some thing.
The following are for test only (NOT for regular use).Public tests released!
Prior post regarding the situation:
http://bitcoingarden.org/forum/index.php?action=post;topic=4544.525;last_msg=223651
In case one wants to continue a test, here is instruction:
http://m-core.org/bin/block-chain/test-chain/instructions.txt
And binaries are here:
http://m-core.org/bin/block-chain/test-chain
There were some tests going on today. When we don't see unusual particularly, we will make a formal release.
Thanks all.
p.s., there is a channel "dev" on slack, report issues there; we'll check over.

v1.4.5.1
=============
This release schedules a hard fork at block #1606950 as a solution to the current mining issue that miners cannot mine blocks:
- The PoW / PoS block generation rule is disabled.
- Difficulty adjustment algo switches back to MQW at #1606948.
- Block drift time is limited within 5 min.
Quick guide:
- Windows: unpack the files and run the wallet directly;
- Mac OS: unpack the files and copy to the Application folder, and then run the wallet directly;
- Linux: unpack the files and run the wallet directly.
Quick startup I (without touching the block-chain):
0) Backup wallet.dat;
1) Launch the new wallet.
Quick startup II (replacing the block-chain):
0) Backup wallet.dat;
1) Download block-chain data from here: http://m-core.org/bin/block-chain;
2) Delete all of the contents under the .magi (unix-like system) or Magi (OS X or Windows) folder, except for wallet.dat and magi.conf;
3) Unzip the file and copy the folders under "m-block-chain" into the .magi (unix-like system) or Magi (OS X or Windows) folder;
4) Launch the new wallet.
Note to v1.4.5.1
---------------------
v1.4.5.1 is compatible with the current block chain.
Things explained..
Firstly, I admit what's going on isn't good to the situation, and I do see there are needs of further works to fulfill the purpose of the coin.
There is no rollback. I learned few requests about actions on the miners who mined (future) blocks that the generic miners can't mine, and for that, rollback is one of the approaches. However, taking into account the overall situation that time to time transactions are involved, especially exchanges, there will be more damage to the coin when we cease the chain or perform a rollback.
As explained shortly in previous post, what happens is associated with the PoW / PoS rule in combination with the fact that 2-hour future blocks allowed as in the original design. I do see in this rule weakness because of the PoW block generation capable of being on a 10-min pattern without the PoS blocks. The another feature of MAGI's network that is intentionally kept at low hash rate comes a likability that one with a reasonable amount hash can launch a future block attack, the chance of this is increased by a fact that generic users can't make valid blocks owing to the PoW / PoS rule; these blocks are supposed to reset the block time.
By overviewing the situation, I see there is a difficulty in maintaining low-hash rate network, as individuals can always acquire big hash rate. In contrast, advantage lies in a network with huge amount of hash that individuals can't compete with. Nevertheless, it's not our intention to compromise the purpose because of the weakness. The PoS is supposed to dilute such weakness; I'm seeing the merit of the PoW / PoS rule when used beautifully. We shall make efforts on this aspect.
Let us know any questions / suggestions.
NEW PLATFORM?? New exchange? I know XMG is on votinglist there but do you know more?

m-wallet version v1.4.5.3
v1.4.5.3
=============
Bug fix in difficulty adjustment algo, i.e., "MagiQuantumWave"; the bug manifests as an improper data conversion when carrying out a time-domain average because of the trival time difference between blocks.

=============
Regarding this version: we have initial scheduled hard fork here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg27192013#msg27192013 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg27192013#msg27192013). We passed the fork point but stuck at 1606987; it was found improper data conversion that is used to deal with difficulty adjustment gets zero when handling small number; diff-adjust takes place using average over a time domain. Many blocks emitted between 1606950 - 1606987 causes tiny difference between their block time, that then hits on the bug.
m-wallet version v1.4.6.1
This is Mandatory upgrade with hard fork on block 1825101, approximately Wednesday evening.
