For now I'm going with google analytics.

It is fast, easy to setup and easy use, but like a SEO said once "you are opening your doors to the enemy!"

Best alternative, as far as I know is Piwik, used by a lot of big names. Free and open source: https://piwik.org/

I would like to give it a try, but I don't have time atm.

Ahref and SEMrush both are the best tool for SEO analysis. They are very popular so you can find many tutorial videos on youtube. Also https://sitecurious.com/ is good tool for in-depth website analysis. With these services you will know all metrics you need.

I use quite a few of them:
- Google Analytics for general analysis of traffic
- Google Search Console for analysis organic traffic
- Ahrefs/SEMrush for analysing competitor organic traffic
- HeapAnalytics for analysing funnel traffic
