The space age is shifting into a higher gear with extraordinary momentum. The US Congress recently directed NASA to prepare a plan for deep space exploration, which should include sending humans to Mars. Concurrently, private companies continue to create and expand the commercial space market.

It would be cool if they used bitcoin. I think it would be symbolic: a new independent currency for the new independent world.

There's already a coin for mars, they call it marscoin.
"Bitcoin for Mars" as they say.
I dunno if that coin is profitable or not, but they already got the name, so why not use it :p

Ahahaha  I think the first time on Mars will not need any money, and then people will choose for themselves the type of currency that will be closest to them. And it may look like dollars, but they will not be them.

If to be realistic, they won't use any currency on Mars, before pretty advanced settlement appears, which is very unlikely in the 21st century. So, my guess is that any transactions will be limited to the basic exchange of thing among settlers.
