INSaNe is an extremely fun and "insane" project ran by a large fun-loving community.
Insane is not a clone, or just a copy of some other coin. Although based on the widely used code that runs the Bitcoin network, insane has taken this code and made it all its own. 1 - Intro:
Velocity is a re-written feature originally known as "pulse" found in Frycoin. Upon stumbling across this unique feature it became quickly apparent that although significant amounts of code would need to be re-done the feature itself had a very good premise in both security and chain stability aspects. This made it very desirable. Work began to rewrite the code about two weeks ago and has been successful despite a few small setbacks and bugs that do not actually affect chain stability or coin operation in any way other than intended.
2 - Importance:
The key importance of Velocity is to constrain the chain with the parameters already defined within the code as apposed to having things like block spacing and other properties act almost as a suggestion to the chain's operation rather than rule and law so to speak. This is very important in the sense that sudden increase in hashrate or possible attacks are still a vulnerability despite the best retarget systems out there being implemented to control block spacing along with network fees, possible invalid ballance issues while sending transactions and other portions of the blockchain that are enforced with a double check but still susceptible to an attack wether it be temporary or a double spend that is confirmed and causes users of the network grief and losses which is unacceptable.
This is done by the Velocity system being a "triple check", even after a block during generation has seemingly met all requirements and is then produced it is now no longer immediately accepted. Instead it is checked again for inconsistencies and possible other exploits.
Most notably users will see rejected blocks during the mining or minting phase (or both depending on coin properties), despite the tendency to assume that there is something wrong with the chain as it is rejecting blocks this is in fact a completely normal and a welcomed operation.
Reasoning is that rapid block times, incorrect fees, insufficient ballance and other issues can be manipulated by a talented programmer with malicious intent. To guard from these kinds of situations Velocity checks the generated block against the chain parameters, first it Velocity checks the block for proper spacing, if the block was generated too quickly it thus has not met one of the main parameters for the chain and is promptly rejected, staving off possible attacks and any kind of sudden increase in hashrate.
Next the system verifies that previously the client that sent a transaction (if it sent one in the previous block) was in fact a valid transaction by comparing previous balance vs current balance along with fees paid vs minimum fee required to pay. If any of these parameters are not met (mind you these are standard chain parameters and nothing outlandish) then the block is again rejected despite being generated successfully.
Thus this system secures the chain, making it more stable, predictable, and overall reliable, instilling confidence that the blocks that are accepted are indeed blocks that are proper.
3 - Shortcomings:
Currently the biggest shortcoming is that this feature is still a prototype system and in its implementation into the Espers blockchain (which is a fully hybrid system utilizing both PoW and PoS simultaniously) caused small glitches with the retarget system which was not functionining properly to begin with as users may remember seeing very rapid block times and the chain rushing over the course of time since its launch until block 650K when Velocity was finally implemented and the chain secured more thoroughly.
That being said users will note that the blocks accepted are spaced very nicely at a minimum of 3.5 minutes without fail and that the chain moves forward smoothly.
Users will also note that however PoS reports incorrectly stating that a reward is due either imminently (0 seconds) or even states that the user is not staking PoS (which is not true).
These are merely false reports and users that leave their client running will in fact both stake and mine perfectly normally despite seeing rejected blocks, which simply indicates that the Velocity feature is working to secure out chain. The report glitches will be resolved with the upcoming updates that aim to correct the incorrect retarget of Espers' chain.
Next the transaction verification and previous balance checks are currently turned off until such a time as the checks become flawless, the implementation for these specific checks are still being developed to properly ascertain those sections of chain parameters.
Espers itself also being a hybrid blockchain requires a more intuitive retarget approach to reduce rejected blocks and cause the system to properly generate blocks so that Velocity becomes not merely a life support system but merely a security check to a stable and properly operating chain. This is planned to be resolved in the upcoming week.
Users of a Velocity implemented chain may also note that INSANE has now been implemented with this feature, however the issues with Espers will not be apparent in INSANE because INSANE is a pure PoS coin/token now which does not have the shortcomings of a hybrid system (the shortcomings being that hybrid tokens were never intended to stay hybrid save for Espers and a very select few that suffer from the same rapid block time issues as Espers had suffered from prior to Velocity being implemented) and thus will not have the same issues listed above, in this case INSANE will see only the benefits of Velocity running as a security check merely stabilizing the blockchain further and making it more robust.
4 - Looking ahead:
Overall the system can be expanded to eventually include more checks, more verification and a even more stringent implementation that may adapt to any kind of features that are added or removed. This makes the system very adaptable and less of a hassle to work with as it can grow with the coin/token and as it becomes more refined and mature so will this new security feature called Velocity.

Insane Coin (INSN) would like to provide our community with an update on our implementation of master nodes and other updates that we have initiated on version 1.0.2.0. As you may know, there are very few coins in the cryptocurrency world that have master nodes as a feature. In fact, there are only a couple of coins that are actively and functionally maintained by developers. They are able to keep the master nodes stable by constantly updating their code when problems arise
and problems are constantly arising. Insane Coin is no different in having some issues with implementation of the master nodes. The good news is that INSN is now a master node coin. We have 4 master nodes active as of the writing of this community update. How many other coins can say that their blockchain has active master nodes? Just a couple. However, this is no excuse for not having the master nodes out on schedule and fully functional.
Some things to remember
There are only a few successful master node coins and they also have issues with stability.
We are going to resolve this issue as quickly as we possibly can. Please remember INSN is exclusive technology and own code, not a clone of other coins.
We are still swapping INSANE coins on Nova Exchange for INSN coins but there are INSN withdrawal issues at this time. Also, you can still move your INSANE coins to Nova Exchange anytime you wish to swap for INSN coins. You will have 3 months to swap your coins.
INSANE Coin is the coin you are swapping for INSN on a 1 to 1 ratio.
We will probably have mandatory and non-mandatory wallet updates very soon to fix the issues we are having with master node stability. We are currently on version 1.0.2.0.
We have the best community
We would like to thank our wonderful community on BitcoinTalk, Slack and Telegram for staying strong and staying with us during this master node implementation phase. We know that in crypto there is a tendency to jump on the next hot coin when difficulties set in.
We will have this issue resolved in the very near future and we think the community members that stuck by us will be rewarded handsomely with a rare, fully functional, master node enabled cryptocurrency.

This update will correctly fix the error with the master node payment amounts. The new dividend payments will be at the following variable rate. The rates are randomized per PoS block.
8% chance of a 6% dividend payment
92% chance of a 7.5% dividend payment
The fix for the lack of the correct amount of PoW blocks showing up will be next month. You have until block 5500 to update to version 1.0.4.0 or your wallet will not sync. Your coins will not be lost
your wallet will simply not sync until you update.
All you have to do is update your wallet
this isnt a new chain or anything and your coins are safe. Also, we strongly advise you to keep a backup copy of your wallet.dat on file. The backup copy should be on a jump drive (or other storage device) that isnt always plugged into your computer and kept in a safe place. You should do this in case your computer gets a power surge and becomes inoperable. Also, you should make a new wallet.dat file after your encrypt your wallet.

Below is a brief technical explanation of what is wrong with the PoW skew and how it will be fixed for now and well into the future. It was determined that the fix to the PoW will require much more in depth and thorough testing than previously thought. This upgrade will be in the next update which will be released in about two weeks.
When the system logs previous blocks it will not record when the last PoS block was and when the last PoW block was, if the last PoW or PoS block time is older than 12 times the desired rate (5 minutes * 12) it will do more than just halve as it does now when there are more than 4 blocks of one type in a row and will target down up to a quarter of what it currently is (twice as much as halving), Ill also include a further catch and state that if its older than 24 times the desired rate (5 minutes *24) then target the entire difficulty for that block type down to an eighth of what it currently is, one more time if the time is older than 48 times the desired rate (5 minutes * 48) then target down up to 1/32nd. Which will be the lowest its allowed to target down for logics sake. So itll continuously get easier and easier to find one or the other block type depending on how far back one type was found, this will keep the PoW/PoS mix very varied.

I was having a look at the coinmarketcap data... volume and price are growing. $7.5K on Livecoin in the first day of trade. $10K on cryptopia... stunning! Way to go!

INSN Update Coming Up
There will be an update coming this Saturday (hopefully) that addresses both the lack of PoW blocks and master node payment discrepancies. The update will have a clock of 10 days before the changes are actually implemented. The reason for this is the update is a soft fork and everyone needs to be on the same version. Also, after the update goes into effect there will be multiple master node ROI pages and possibly other surprises.

Hello, everybody, I would like to make a short statement regarding insane. (INSN) and Insane Spaces Cryptoplex (INSC).
First Insane Coin.
Most of what you will find here is not new information; Most has been said before, albeit not in the same place nor at the same time.
Insanecoin was not born via an ICO and was not graced with huge start-up funds. Finances have been mostly funded by personal donations and large investments by core team members. Insane has a great community and a great team that run it behind the scenes. The team is not limited to the individuals listed at insanecoin.com; these are core members. Also, many more people play varied roles and do a great job for insane.
One problem that I have seen within crypto is the self-implosion of coins due to lack of interest past the first few months or years if lucky.
Devs come, disappear, lose interest and for whatever reason the coin dies.
Our business model devoids this risk.
Insane coin is a team. Not the idea or baby of one person. No one person has full control, and no one person can run off with the funds or cause any real issues that would effect the future of insane.
Cryptocoderz has been working with insane for some time as one of our team devs. During the last few months, some unexpected personal issues have limited his ability to work within crypto. Due to this cryprocoderz will be taking time away. We wish him all the best and hope everything gets resolved.
In the meantime a long awaited update to the wallet is arriving soon, this addresses the master node payment issues as well as some other small issues and bug fixes.
We are moving on with our plans, one of which I will talk about next. Insane has long term goals, and we could pump this or that and build hype. But that is not a sustainable approach or in the best interests of team members, investors or community members.
Now Insane spaces.
We have been working on insane spaces for some time now, the idea started simple but has grown into a monster of a task. The main reason being for that is our want to include as many funding options as possible. We want to involve a wider community than just crypto lovers. Mainstream funding will offer more access to a wider range of people, and with the crypto element playing a large part it will expose more people to our ever expanding presence in the global marketplace.
An insane Space will introduce business and social communities to crypto via education, entertainment and exposure. A place that can expose crypto to a whole new marketplace via interaction, education and awareness.
Insane spaces INSC will be run alongside insane coin INSN, Insane coins (Insane crypto systems Ltd). However insane space will be run in a way that benefits the crypto community as a whole.
Insane spaces will be running as a "Not for profit" company.
What does this mean?
All profits that are made will be reinvested into the project or other similar causes or projects. Once established we will be offering grants for research or development to worthwhile and beneficial projects. We will be creating a charitable fund that can be deployed where needed via member voting.
Members will play a very important role in the future within Insane, and we will be introducing a system of direction to guide insane spaces down the correct path. I feel that one person's vision is just not big enough a team must drive forward and that team must be governed by consensus rather than blind vision.
To clarify the INSN holder 2 for 1 swap.
On a date yet to be confirmed (we are aiming for early January 2018)
Holders of INSN will receive 1 INSC for each INSN that you hold at the point of the snapshot (Date also TBC)
You will keep your INSN, so say you have 100 INSN right now. And you keep those INSN until the snapshot, and you will then also receive 100 INSC.
So you will have 100 INSN and 100 INSC, effectively a 2 for 1, but you already own 1 so its free coins just for being insanely wonderful and hanging on to your INSN. (And because we love you all)

I've been over all the source code for INSaNe and it's good.
I asked Bittzy to keep my identity under wraps until we knew that we liked working together and that there were no hidden "surprises". There are no hidden surprises and we all get along. I am so happy.

A: The single best indicator of future success is the team and this is a good one. Also, INSC (insane spaces) is the hotness. A DAO accelerator for new blockchain technologies? Yep that is a good idea.
I was going to do a crayon drawing of a road, but ... Roadmap: - Fixing the network rewards so our masternodes have the best ROI - we are doing this now (and fixing other issues w/ the wallet)
- Decentralized exchange integration with Etherdelta and Bisq - ASAP
- An android staking wallet might be nice?

we are working hard so by that measure, things are healthy. The primary goals for INSN are fixes to the rewards structure but there are other things we are adding to the wallet to-do list because exchanges don't want us to do lots of wallet updates these days.
We aren't going to be announcing the wallet release schedule until we have things working on the test net and we are certain the dates (and corresponding block-heights) for the new wallet features, so we'll be making these announcements in the coming weeks.
summary: we don't really have an eta but we will any day now...
also, we will probably make some modifications based on feedback from community and update the roadmap, that is really important I'm not trying to sound flippant but I'm being honest, it's too early to say what the ETA is but things have gone more smoothly than expected so far? That's the best I can do at the moment
Q: Eta means estimated, it is not expected to be exact. You can say for example, a date where where you know it will be far done. If you say "any day before June 2019" may be better received than no eta at all.
A: ok I expect it in February, I hope it will be December, but I am making wild-ass guesses as opposed to estimates
because as an engineer, my estimates are expected to be rigorous.

Two important updates from the INSN dev Mrok on Discord...
January 07, 2018
Hi Folks, I had to take time off from working on INSN because of the holidays and an unexpected stint helping my old employer. Fortunately I don't need to take another contract for a few months now so I'll be focusing full time on INSN development until the new release is out.
The holiday gift is complete! it is integration with the Bisq decentralized exchange. Our github changes need to be approved and included w/ Bisq so it's not live... and I'm not sure how long it will take but I'll update as soon as I know.
I'm definitely behind where I hoped to be with the new wallet release - I now estimate that the wallet will be ready in early February. I'm still working on the blockexplorer changes. The prior dev (CCZ) agreed to review everything when I'm ready so thats the next major milestone on my schedule.
Also, I'm going to do a whitepaper that is not cribbed and says things about why our coin is unique and special so we can handle traffic from new people who are interested in joining our community.
I have a degree and had to write papers in college, but i would appreciate input and editorial support! I promise it won't be too snarky so that we can have it translated without undue difficulty.

Howdy everyone, heres' the rundown - I am going to focus on some high level stuff today and we can do tech deep dives if people are interested.
A. Rewards - I have an implementation that is following the new INSN reward specs (with 2000 intead of 20000 coins per day) after some very very light testing. I 've looked in detail at the proof of work / proof of stake difficulty code and there are a couple of improvements that should ensure we are seeing POW blocks. I also have not implemented the 5% admin budget because I haven't seen code that I'd like to copy yet for that feature.
The big remaining items for rewards is all testing to ensure our fixes for POW/POS diff are working the way we want.
We are on the correct item currently with the official INSN roadmap, current roadma item: Wnter 2017-18, "Make our wallet noticeably better than all the other coins with similar wallets." When bittzy convinced me to add searching to the masternodes tab I started learning how mcuh cool stuff we could be doing hhat we arent' doinig yet. All except one of the major UI issues are done - the remaining bug to fix in the UI is that our wallet lets you spend you r masternode coins, thus disabling your MN associated with those coins. We are going to give the user a warning/cancel option instead of silently taking their MN offline.
NOTE: Every other masternode coin I've used has the same problem, w silently disabling the masternode - details like a meaningful alert will impress cryptoenthusias who are sick of the same bad code getting copied into every altcoin.
OOPS add "Item B" next to "we are on track on the roadmap because we are focused on wallet improvements."
C. I mentioned in a prior update that the night-mode has a better UI now, and some other UI improvements like fixing the flashing masternode list, but we are going to make our walle t look a LOT better. We are going to produce the follwing graphic items which we will include in our wallet to make it beautiful. We will develop these graphics as a community so that they are fantastic. Graphic 00: A nicer splash screen - Bittzy mentioned to me doing an animation in the splash screen which would be great, and i did a quick check and yes, we can use ANIMATED GIFS in our QT canvases, so ... we need a bunch of great animations so we can decide on a winner. It's ridiculously easy to make animated gifs, so this should be pretty entertaining. We can also use these animations in twitter/emails/etc so... if yo uhave an idea that you like but doesn't work well for a splash screen go ahead and do it anyway and submit it! I suggest we work all this out on our discord channel but I"m open to suggestions..
Graphic 01: Background images for the wallet, for both night-mode and normal mode. These images must be mostly dark or mostly light in color so that the graphics dont' interfere with the text in the user interface. And, finally, Graphic 02: We need to update our logo in a couple of small ways, unless someone comes up with a logo that we all love more than the current one (which I am quite attached to) . The logo updates we need are: Remove the border and the text "INSANE" from the bottom, and make the background transparent. This will make our icon look liek all the other modern coins on cruptopia, and it will follow the google design patterns of making icons as simple and flat as possible.
Everyone's Favorite Topic, the schedule for delivery - I am going to stop work the imroved blockexlorer because it's taking too much time and bittzy suggested that we can just replace our bad wallet block explorer with code that opens a web browser to the cryptoid explorer. I think this is smart and elegant and in fact better than the complex blockexplorer that pivx includes (which I was using as a referene). than routing t open the browser to the web-block-explorer from within the wallet when you specificity an address or hash or blockheight etc. Mid February but its still do-able. I think we will hae a "release candidate" that will EVENTUALLY pass our tests to our satisfaction, but we are going to need to test for a long time, Our secret sauce incognito dev has found some security issues

Basically, unscrupulous coders have been attacking coins that are in the process of being updated because the new code can have problems. Our plan for mitigating this: Don't introduce new problem.Do our internal testing without any code avail to the public. When our testing indicates we are ready for public testing we will post the new source code and invite the public to participate in our beta.

Hello all, I'd like to take a few minutes and discuss the recent updates applied the ones that are soon to be committed to the github along with having another wallet released. If anyone has questions afterwards please feelfree to ask
So hitting the items in the list from Bittzy's post first the masternode payouts have been updated to be the majority of the block payout. It's now set to 85% of the payout as the masternodes were supposed to receive a considerable bonus to standard rewards. This of course never happened as the masternode fees were simply not high enough for the amount of coins being created. Next the PoS payouts have been set to astatic reward of 14 INSN per stake with an 8% too receive 17.5 INSN per stake or a 12.5% bonus to the normal rate with 85% going to masternodes for supporting the network as intended from the start. PoW has also been adjusted to 5.5 INSN per block with a 20% of receiving a block that rewards double. Windows builds have been updated to the latest wallet dependencies that improve stability and performance and there has been codebase cleanup done. Also, there has been a developer operations payment added that acts similarly to the masternode payments in that it uses a portion of the generated block but it only is applied to PoS blocks and not PoW blocks. Developer operatons payments are set to 5% of the generated block amount and goes directly to the Insane team (not to me, BIttzy has more information on who has access to these funds). Finally there's also now a 10x bonus that will run for all block rewards that begins the 20th of this month and runs until April 20th (next month) that is intended to make up for the lost time ine regards to paymentsfor the network to stakers, miners, and masternodes and help further fund future development and integration.
